“EXCELLENT DUBAI SIGHTSEEING LOCATION”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2012

We spent four nights in this hotel prior to a 7 night cruise of UAE from Dubai, and found everything extremely good about this hotel.
We arrived in the early hours of the morning after a 7.5 hour flight, and were greeted with a smile and juice, and a quick check-in to non smoking Room 816 (top floor), which has a wonderful view of the fort, museum, Rulers Court and creek.
Spacious room with lovely Arabian furniture, tea & coffee making facilities (with biscuits), fridge full of drinks and snacks you might want to purchase, adequately sized bathroom equipped with toiletries which were replaced as used, and two bottles of water provided daily free of charge. Bath robes and slippers also there for your use.
Ample selection for breakfast to suit all tastes/requirements. Indian, Chinese & Thai & Pizza restaurants as well as Sherlock Holmes Pub. We ate in Sherlock Holmes and found meals to be very good, served by friendly staff. Nice coffee shop, with sandwiches & cakes etc on ground floor.
We found all staff to be extremely courteous, polite and friendly which made us feel very welcome.
There is a Mosque close by, so you do hear the calls to worship, but we soon got used to these - probably so tired after sightseeing!
Big Bus Tour bus-stop across the road, which was very handy. Excellent tour (220 dirhams per person) which included free Dhow cruise, free entrance to museum and Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum's House, free walking tour. One suggestion for Big Bus Tour Company - why can't you put signs up at bus stops advising clients if Dhow Cruise cancelled?? This would save a lot of bother, windy weather had cancelled dhow cruise on the day we were going, and we ended up having a long walk back from the Dhow Cruise starting point.
A "must" is a trip across the Creek on an abra - 1 dirham per person. Run all the time. Different, but great, and takes you across to spice and gold souks - leave this for the evening though, not open daytime.Very interesting.

It worked - we recovered our jet lag before arriving in Bangalore in India to look after 3 grandchildren aged 5, 3 and 2. The staff were great but the Sherlock Holmes bar allowed smokers in one section which spoiled what was an excellent bar. Everything else was excellent value and quality.
We arranged a Creek Boat Trip with dinner through the hotel and we were billed for it by them. Unfortunately it did not go well as the Desert Dreams Tourism LLC who provided the tour included a taxi that was late, our allocated International tourist boat was by then full and as we subsequently discovered we were put on a boat only for Indian tourists which did not have the entertainment promised (only horrible Indian music that everyone ignored), had only Indian food, and no tea or coffee or the international food contracted. We paid the hotel bill including this trip 'under protest'.

We stayed in the Arabian Courtyard for four days before going on to the Maldives. We couldn't have been in a better spot. Right next to the Dubai Museum and fort. Right next to the Big Bus open top bus stop, Ten minute walk to the cleanest metro link i have ever seen with staff everywhere to help you on your way .About 3 pounds for all day on the metro and takes you right up to the Burj beach area and covers all the malls. Right next to the creek and all the old boats etc. We didn't want to be near a beach because of our next stay in the Maldives and so this hotel hit the spot.
Extremely gracious staff that are very helpful. We were quite late at night arriving at the hotel and after any easy check in were sent to bed with wishes of "sweet dreams Madam ". First time for everything and thought this was a nice touch. I've stayed in many hotels but have never been wished sweet dreams. They would have been sweet however they were disturbed at 5.30am with the calls to prayer from the local Mosque, By day three though owing to the long sightseeing days we were just about sleeping through the calls.
This place is extremely clean , with very helpful staff. We were bed and breakfast. We couldn't have asked for more for the choice of breakfast with both cooked and continental with the odd curry and steak chucked in for good measure. Never had steak and eggs for breakfast but it was extremely nice.
Huge room on the 6th floor with very small bathroom but more than adequately catered for our girly needs with lots of space for all our toiletries. Tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge for our water. Alcohol is very sparse here. There is a supermarket next door but couldn't find any alcohol on the shelves and there didn't appear to be any kind of liquor store. Certainly didn't do us any harm though, only to our pockets where it cost 7 pound for a bottle of sol beer in the Madinat hotel and 14 pounds for a cosmopolitan in the Burj Khalifa. Pleased we went to sight see and not to drink....
We went to the Burj Al Arab for afternoon tea in the sky bar, (75 pounds each ) Went to Atmosphere bar in the burj Khalifa where we paid £36 for a chicken burger (tiny) and £6 for a coke. (require bookings for both) We paid around £50 for a two day pass on the sightseeing bus that takes you all over this huge city and includes a boat trip on the creek which was fab. The weather in february was pleasantly hot to walk around in but a cardigan was needed in the evenings and a jumper would have been very good for the trip on the boat. It was really quite chilly around 4pm in the shade and draught of the boat.
Dubai is a fantastic place for sightseeing and the Arabian courtyard is an ideal base to see it all.Take a full purse as it sure is an expensive city but certainly worth a look Couldn't have chosen a better spot and thanks to all the staff for making our stay so pleasant.

Room Tip: We were overlooking the fort on the 6th floor and the view is fantastic. Creek , museum , port where...

The hotel is located in the heart of the old Dubai just cross the road of the museum. The metro station is about 10 min walk, not convenient for dragging luggage. Many traditional shops are just outside the hotel. Service needs some attention especially from the front disk. The lady from South Africa in the front disk is friendly and always smiling, the others need to learn how to treat guests better. The rooms are medium size with traditional furniture, may be to match the museum nearby. The furniture has scratches and the carpet in front of the bed is old. The bed sheets and towels are not that clean, they have spots, but they are replaced immediately when housekeeping is notified. The outdoors swimming pool is small and not that clean. There are sauna and steam rooms but for 30UAE per person. The internet is not free. The breakfast cost 65 UAE per person. If you are looking for traditional hotel in old Dubai then this is your hotel. If you are looking for modern Dubai go to some hotels near Dubai Mall. With all those small negatives I come back.

I spent 2 nights at the Arabian Courtyard and really enjoyed it. We paid the little extra for an executive level room which comes with access to a lounge. Throughout the day it's possible to go in there for pastries or drinks (soft, coffee, tea) and in the evening there is happy hour to get more of a snack and drinks. The hostess at the lounge was very friendly and always smiling. Internet is free in the lounge.

Our room had a view over the museum and to the creek. I liked the beautiful and classy arabian style furnishings although the room did seem a little bit dark. There is a swimming pool, very clean. But it's on the small side. Also the sitting area kind of cramped and gets busy throughout the day.

Location wise this was perfect as we wanted to spend our first couple days exploring Bur Dubai and the souks. The boats to cross the creek are a very short walk, and the museum is just across the street.

There are a few restaurants/bars and spa in the hotel, but I can't comment as I didn't get a chance to use them.

I recommend this hotel for good location in the old part of Dubai, lovely rooms and a really good price!!

I would like to thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience with us. I am very pleased that you had enjoyed your 2 nights stay in our Hotel and was happy about the great services provided by our staff.

Thank you as well as you have liked our beautiful and classy Arabian style room and have noted your remark on the room seems a little bit dark and your comment in the swimming pool sitting area.

As you are aware of, the hotel is ideally located for exploring Bur Dubai, as everywhere is on easy walking distance. Dubai museum is just acoss the street and it is surrounded by many Touristic interests like the Historical Bastakia, Rulers Court and the vibrant Shopping street with Gold, Electronics and Textiles in the famous Meena Bazar.

I look forward to welcoming you back and hoping that you will have the chance to dine in our restaurant/bar and use the spa on your next visit.

Coming back to the Arabian Courtyard after two years was like coming home. We had booked for two visits, one night on our arrival in Dubai, at nearly midnight, and then two nights the week after on our way home to the UK. The 1st night we had booked a 'heritage' room as we would have no chance to avail ourselves of the executive room perks, and it was lovely. very comortable bed, excellent breakfast and staff who all made us bvery welcome. On our way home we had booked an executive room to take adevantage of those perks mentioned above - use of the Exec. Lounge, free drinks (inc. alcoholic) and canapes in the evening, and fruit and water in the room. We would have liked a room at the front of the hotel, looking towards the Creek, but otherwise a great place to stay. Going back can sometimes disappoint, but not the Arabian Courtyard - even checking out at 2.15 am and getting a taxi at 2.30 am was no problem at all - we just got to the long walks and queues at Dubai airport a little early!

Room Tip: Upper floors are best, and those with a zero in the middle (701, 604 etc) are very quiet.
