Loved my time at the Belmond. The location is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Oscar provided us with a map of the area and had selected restaurants that he had personally researched. We walked past almost all of them and they all looked special. From the outside the hotel is hardly visible, but inside it is gorgeous. We didn’t choose to eat breakfast which was good because I would have totally over eaten. It looked fantastic. The staff were attentive and made me feel welcomed in a big way. The pool is huge, great for laps, maybe 50 feet long.

Dear niffermc17,

What wonderful feedback from your stay at Belmond La Residence d'Angkor, thank you for the five star review.

As you mention, we are very centrally located and you can walk to lots of fantastic local restaurants. Oscar our Front Office manager does certainly have some great recommendations.

I am so pleased you enjoyed our pool as well, at 38 metres long it is indeed perfect for laps.

We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Siem Reap.

Best regards,

We stayed for longer than the average duration which enabled us to enjoy most of what this excellent hotel has to offer. Delightful and attentive staff (particular thanks to Oscar & Long whose help was much appreciated), good food at Ember and a warmth of welcome that was consistently good throughout our stay. The hotel is very central and well located and is indeed an oasis of tranquility which was greatly appreciated as we discovered that our stay coincided with the annual Water Festival. The hotel is relatively small but that makes the service even more personal and it is a credit to its management and staff.

Having never been to Siem Reap, or Cambodia for that matter, it was a bit of a shot in the dark to choose what we thought would be the best hotel for our stay of four days. We made the absolutely correct decision in choosing Belmond's La Residence. It has a central location on the river front in what is otherwise a very "unscenic" urban landscape in Siem Reap. As soon as you enter the door way and pass to the other side of the outer wall, you are enveloped in an oasis. The feel of the hotel is residential and combines both traditional and modern looks in the aesthetics of its design and decor. But what is most compelling is the graciousness of the service and the speed of response with issues that for us ranged from "I have no kleenex" to "one of the lights on the vanity has burned out" to (yes really) "we have no water coming out of our sink or bathtub faucets"! All of these were part of our experience but what signals a well run luxury hotel is the speed of resolution and gracious in handling the response to the guest. We experienced BOTH! We chose to have dinner one night at Raffles (the more well known neighbor on the riverfront) and it confirmed to us that we had chosen the best with Belmond. I would return in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: If view is important, request a poolside suite......

My wife and I stayed at the Belmond in Siem Reap for 6 days. We chose this hotel based on the glowing reviews, enticing pics, and great location for temple touring.

We were not disappointed in any way. The staff are so gracious and a joy to be around. The property itself is very nice and a great place to spend a holiday. The food on the property was also fantastic.

Great stay at a great property.

Cambodia is an excellent value for Western tourists and for Americans in particular since the dollar has been strong for the past couple of years. There are excellent hotels available for as little as $50/day in Siem Reap which makes it incongruous to pay $300/night to stay at the Belmond. We visited in May and stayed at the Belmond for 4 days.

The reasons why I highly recommend a stay at the Belmond are manifold, chief among them service, location, ameneties and a can-do attitude among the staff. I booked the hotel using the American Express "one night free for staying 3 nights" offer on their website - it included a room upgrade, daily breakfast for 2, late check out and a free massage for 2. Turned out to be quite a deal since we enjoyed the grounds, the pool and spa and of course the service. Breakfast was very sumptuous and included a multitude of fruits, meats and an omelette station. The air-conditioning in the (large) room was excellent as well.

The location is right on the river and is a stones throw from the main area of the town. The hotel arranged dinner for us at several restaurants during our stay and all their recommendations were spot on.

Evening cocktails are arranged a few days of the week and the new manager (expat from Germany) made us feel at home by explaining various aspects of the hotel and gave us several restaurant recommendations.

A true oasis!!

Room Tip: Pool views are nice and not noisy at all
