This was on the itinerary for our second day of touring the sight of Angkor Wat and surrounding temples. It was worth time time and effort to walk around and take in the feel of the place.

This temple is very unique in such that there are trees that are grown on the temple rocks, and the roots are such that it is grown on top of them. Talk of survival. These trees are around 200-400 years old. This temple is a must visit if you are in Siem Reap. Great opportunity to take some pictures as well!

This Buddhist temple was dedicated by King Jayavarman VII to his mother. But the reason why it's world famous is because the movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider shot many scenes here. What's noticeable is that giant fig trees were allowed to grow undisturbed. You get the impression that the trees are gobbling the ancient structures up with dramatic, almost cinematic (no pun intended) effect.

Its a great trip, but do it Off-Season. :) Otherwise there will be too many busses with groups running through and you will miss the peaceful experience. The trees growing in the temple are mind blowing!
