When we travel, we try to search ours few experiences that gives be back to the community.
The Phare circus teaches circus skills to underprivileged kids and coaches them until they can perform as young adults.
Super fit, acrobatic and quirky, it's a good performance and for a fantastic cause... But it is a lot of money...a circus in England is cheaper and has more going on.
That being said, they give there all, and you are helping a worthy cause..so go if you can.
One BIG tip...bring a small cushion, as the seating is very uncomfortable !

Very entertaining. Aircon. Lots of tuc-tucs after show. About $4 back to hotel. Profits go to good causes. All in all- a winner. The back seating is very hard to get to if you have mobility issues.

Fantastic, fast, energetic, funny and very entertaining. The acrobatic skills were amazing and also the live music that accompanied the show.

The group of young performers were extremely fast and skilled. This was a spectacular high energy performance. They laced some comedy throughout the show.
It was accompanied by a fantastic live music score.

Hi malcolma43,

Thanks for sharing your experience of Phare, The Cambodian Circus.

Indeed, Phare is not a conventional circus. The artists use drama, comedy, dance, live music to tell uniquely Cambodian stories from recent history, folklore and modern society. The live music is all original, composed by Phare musicians. Guests can buy USBs in Phare Boutique with soundtracks from 3 of the shows. The music is also available on iTunes.

Thanks again for the feedback. I'll be sure to share your appreciation with the artists.

Best Regards,

Craig Dodge

Just had a great night at Phare circus-really enjoyable night watching the show “same same but different”. Great acrobatics with a modern theatrical element that was witty, watchable and inclusive. Supporting local community was a bonus. And an animal free circus!

Go for the $18 dollar seats-get there early and go through shops and join queue....it’s a small venue so no really bad seats.

A great contrast at the end of day of temples!

Don’t miss it!

Dear Anne S,

Thank you for sharing your experience of Phare, The Cambodian Circus.

You write some very useful tips for future guests. Phare artists put their unique vibe and energy into "Same Same but Different", sharing their perspectives on the different ways Cambodians and visitors approach daily life situations. No animals are used in any Phare production, and your patronage helps provide good jobs for graduates of Phare Ponleu Selpak non-profit school and fund the free education and social services of the school.

It's true the big top is a small venue, so no matter where guests are seated, they're never far from the action. It's important to be aware, however, that the views from some seats in Section C are partially obstructed by the support pillars. Section C ticket holders are encouraged to arrive early to avoid those spots. There are no obstructed views in Sections A or B.

Thanks again for your feedback and tips for future guests.

Sincerely,

Craig Dodge

I really enjoyed the show tonight. Was brilliant to see local, young Cambodians perform with energy and skill. It was also amazing to see what they could achieve in a small space and I was very impressed with the professionalism of the performers. It's similar in style to cirque du soleil, but modern, inclusive and relevant and with a very much Cambodian twist. It was funny too. We sat in the C seats so would recommend getting there early and queuing for a decent seat, but they are all fine in that section. Would definitely recommend making this part of your Cambodia experience. Loved it!!!!

This is a must see when in Siem Reap. Such an awesome and entertaining show, you could see the performers absolutley loved what they were doing. Great performers and so talented and funny!
We bought the Dinner and "A" row seat package, but A, B or C seats will all give you a good view as it is only a small "Big Top Tent" If you just buy the show tickets make sure to arrive early and a few drinks at the bar.
So glad we did this and it's for such a great cause to help the youth of Cambodia to find a path in life. Don't miss it!
