Just Like your Old Jeans-comfortable at the end of the day.
A bar with a cold beer, complementary snacks, a guy on the keyboards and extra friendly barman.
WiFi that works in the lobby and in rooms.
Restaurant OK, but selection limited.
Room small but acceptable. Pick the bigger rooms with balcony if you like a little extra space.
In summary, I do not know the options in Douala but would be happy to stay next time.

What else do you need when visiting hot Douala. Small dingy, characterless rooms but clean and with working AC and fast internet.
Great location with a free airport shuttle.
Allowed a late checkout without an extra fee...the only time the front desk staff were friendly to us.
Restaurant staff were super friendly and the food was tasty. Breakfast buffet a bit pricey but worth the money.

After flying over 17 hours to get here, getting out of Douala airport then trying to check in at Somatel jet lagged was an experience. Warning do bring your VISA credit card since they don't accept Mastercard. However, they do take US dollars but you get ripped off by the exchange rate. Basically 20% over the standard rate. Staff not helpful, room old and smells of disinfectant. Guess that is why they are ranked second last in Douala.

If you are looking for a quite cheap hotel and everything that goes with it, well there you are. The people at the front desk are not very reactive. I had no Internet connection and it took them 3 days to get someone to my room to check it. Wi Fi didn't work, tried the cable which didn't work either. So they made me change rooms and I went from a large enough one with small bathroom to a small one with a very small bathroom ! The linen in both rooms was old and used out. The AC had not been maintained properly, so during a big storm, it flooded the room during the night. These are a few remarks among others ... I'm used to travel in Africa, so I'm aware of the difference in standards, but this one is lousy !
As far as the restaurant is concerned, the food is OK but if you stay there a week you will have gone through the whole menu by the end of it, taking into account that some products are not available due to the seasonality.
