I was here with family in October of 2015 actually. Cannot choose an earlier month. The hotel room was pretty clean, but the toilet could have been a bit better. For a supposed five star, it was not up to standard in the sense of aesthetics and it looked rusty and not thoroughly cleaned when first checked in. Yet, the attitude of the staff is really good, overall. Very happy with a lot of smiles. The breakfast buffet was just okay. Felt more like a three star breakfast. However, if you were willing to dine in the Chinese restaurant, it was really good. Do get the Chinese style BBQ pork and the duck. Very good. It was not that much more expensive than outside full service restaurants and a lot cheaper than places in the major cities like Hong Kong or Shenzhen. There were a lot of man made hot springs. Maybe, the water is pulled up from underground from a main source, but any herbal treatments were just added herbs placed by the staff. That is what it appears to be because it is impossible to have over fifty choices that were all natural. The wait staff there were consistently ready to help serve you water. Do not get the massage at the hotel. Not the best massage and it was overpriced. They also felt like they wood try to make you feel really guilty into giving them more tip. Do go for the hot springs and the Chinese restaurant.

Zhongshan hot springs hotel is a nice place centrally located and close to business hub with all amenities like spa, English speaking staff and good restaurant.
They were offering complimentary Dinner and Steam Bath.
Spa is very famous with more varieties of Massages by experienced people.

Room:
We spent one night here during the long weekend of May 1st holiday, if you travel as couple we recommend you to book the room in the "business area" there are four or five rooms with direct pool access (in Chinese: 水景房), which is more quite compare to the main block. it will take you five minutes to go to the hot springs by walk.

F&B
During our stay, the hotel was almost full, they were not able to provide the complimentary breakfast at 9am because the western restaurant was full already, they told us to return at 11am !!?? the hotel should consider a better arrangement in the peak season, they can enlarge the breakfast section in their ball room area. We end up pay for our own dimsum breakfast at the Chinese restaurant.

We had two dimsum lunch/breakfast and the food are very nice. We took our dinner elsewhere, the hotel provided us free drop off and pick up service which is very kind as we didn't have a car.

Hotsprings
The hot springs are big and knowing it is May 1st holiday, we still manage to have some space for our family. the sauna/steam room inside the changing room was awesome. The staff will offer tea for the guest at the hotsprings.

Staff
They always greet you with a smile wherever you see them. Most of the staff speaks fluent Cantonese make us feel like home, some of them can communicate in English as well.

Room Tip: Pool access room in business block are nice and quiet

Visited here on a Sunday for a day trip, not overly crowded, so its good. Many choices of hotspring pools and most of the time you can have the pool by yourselves. Staffs are very attentive and polite, they proactively goes around serving water and clearing unused towels, and even folded your towels hung on the hook, which anyone can mistaken as new towels :) The food sold at their poolside needs to be improved both quality and efficiency. They also have a lounge on the 3/F, serving complimentary light snacks (porridge, soup, fruits salad, fruits, bread, tit-bits) and warm beverages, its spacious and relaxing. Free wifi is available in their lobby. Upon leaving and if you are taking public transport, you can request a free car ride from the hotel to the nearest bus station (less than 5 mins drive), the hotel's Concierge staff is very accomodating to arrange for you. Highly recommend this place - clean, comfortable and excellent service!

Came for a conference, stayed for 3 nights. The hotel complex is quite large, so if you came for the hot spring ask for a room in buildings 2/1/3 (in that order) which are closer to the lobby, hot springs, restaurants . The other buildings are a good walk or a golf buggy ride.

The main difference between Western-run and Chinese-run hotels is the service, which for Chinese hotels tend to be basic, reactive, and a bit rough at the edges.

Compared with other so called "luxury" Chinese hotels, the Zhongshan HS hotel is quite basic even in the hardware:
- Lobby is small
- Rooms are good-sized, but everything in it is basic although clean: I'm quite surprised to learn it was only renovated a few years ago - the furniture looks like something from my boarding school dorm in the UK 20 years ago, the bathroom is tiny, the curtains worm and dingy.
- The "minibar", which consists of an old refrigerator, had exactly two cans of soft drinks and 2 bottles of water in it
- Only 2 restaurants, a "Western" canteen style restaurant actually serving Chinese food, with a tired looking (but cheap I admit) buffet where hotel patrons and hotel staff are eating from at the same time. The Chinese restaurant serves much better fare but service is slow, the staff well-meaning and polite but quite inexperienced reactive robots

Service:
- Like most hotels they ask you to place a pre-printed label on your pillow if you want your sheets changed. After my second night I spilt a bit of coke on the sheets so I placed the card there. When I returned that pm, the bed was made up but sheets not changed- the stain simply covered up by folding the duvet down halfway! I spoke to a supervisor and she said when she checked the rooms after housekeeping there was no card on my pillow - they had placed it back in the drawer without changing the sheets!
- Room service took over an hour to arrive (they promised 30 min when I ordered), came in disposable cheap plastic containers, with plastic cutlery, on a plastic tray, and was lukewarm at the most.

I didn't visit the hot springs given my previous experience of Chinese hotsprings - large and built well but too many people and they allow food and drink in the pools, and don't request you to shower first. Not like Japan.

Overall, it's fine for a short getaway
If you like hot springs and if you are used to more basic hostels or local hotels. Staff are polite and well-meaning but inexperienced, and have little idea of what real hotel hospitality means.
