Check In was generally without incident and we arrived early so waiting for room was to be expected. Room was ready according to the hotel check-in time. Villa was very nice, with the dining and living quarters separated. The lap pool and whirlpool were very nice are unheated but this also is not uncommon in Asia. I would caution anyone without any Chinese language about staying here. We both speak competent Chinese and with the local dialect and accent we had some difficulty.

The food at the restaurants are well prepared but we experienced some significant delays ordering western food. This is also something to be expected in Asia.

There are a number of stumble hazards throughout the resort with meeting floor levels ranging from 20mm to 40mm. Most of these are not marked and can surprise you.

When we stayed there were 20 Nepalese doing an internship at the hotel and were under employed. They were very competent and spoke multiple languages and should have been employed with dealing with the requests of non Chinese guests.

The villas with pool are absolutely amazing, clean, nicely designed, quiet and very comfortable.
The rest of the property was also very nice. The breakfast was great, wide variety, Western and Chinese, brilliant taste- so was the bbq for dinner.
Besides the property, not all staff speak English, so at times it's difficult to communicate, particularly on the phone. The two exceptions are Wayne and Cherry, who were helpful, friendly and we're always there for us.

Stayed at Grand Metropark for 3 nights and it was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in - sleep quality is horrible because the rooms are not sound-proofed, and the doors slam loudly so whenever someone leaves or enters the hallway, the doors make such a loud noise that all can hear even when inside the room. Also the noise travels whenever there's someone speaking in the hall or when someone in your nearby room is moving around. With the number of kids running around and late night couples, there's noise non-stopped pretty much anytime before 1 am and after 6 am. Daytime naps are impossible due to noise...

Service is ok and the surroundings are nice, but unless you are booking a villa (which would be much quieter) I would not recommend staying in this hotel.

Room Tip: Don't book the individual rooms. Villas seem to be ok

Sanya was one of the highlights of our 3,5 week China-trip. The hotel provided everything we needed and not only that, it was provided in with best practice for service. Jackie Chen has his staff well organized, friendly and efficient. Since we liked Tsing Tao beer so much, we were known as Mr. Tsing & Dr. Tao. Food was great also, we enjoyed the Chinese buffet very much and the breakfast is really something. Next time in Sanya, we'll be there again.
