We were staying next door at the Intercontinental and paying a small fortune for the food. We had some decent pizza the night before and deciding to stick with what we knew until they came out and told us the pizza oven was broken. Plan B.
We walked down to the Anantara which is next door and found the Baan Rim Nam. Beautiful decorated but simple. Went well with the vibe of the Anantara. When we arrived it was practically empty with one other table. The waitress was sweet and handed us a menu and took our order. A manager came over to check on us and wanted to make sure we could understand the waitress. Very friendly and told us to let him know if we needed anything.
The FOOD! The menu is huge! It was hard to choose so we just went for everything. We were celebrating my friends birthday. We ordered the papaya salad, appetizer platter with pandan chicken, fish cake, spring roll and fried tofu with chili sauce. The Pandan Chicken was incredible. Great flavor and so juicy. We really enjoyed both dishes.
For mains, we ordered the pad Thai with prawn which was good but overshadowed by the other dishes and a beef Phat Khaphrao which was minced beef with basil, lime and chilis. Delicious. We had planned to order mango with sticky rice but were beyond full and couldn’t finish our dishes. The portions are large. They brought us out a heart cake at the end of our meal for free since it was Mother’s Day. Very sweet touch.
I would highly recommend eating here. Great tasting Thai food in a city where it is difficult to find decent, well priced meals.
