Really poor. Why? Because of the cleanliness. It ain't clean. No, not true, the sheets were. Happy to do basic if it is clean - a simple thing for any hotel!

The positive:
* Great location near centre, parks and attractions
* Free Condoms by the side of your bed - a positive if you need them

NEGATIVES
* Dirty room that has not been cleaned properly
* Poor decoration
* Terrible pillows
* Lots of stains
* Dingy
* Windows that don't shut or lock on the ground floor
* Paper thin walls so you can always hear what your neighbours are doing - shower and loo

In essence, unless you have to - we did (G Adventures) don't stay...

G - drop from your programme

Room tip: Try and find a clean room - good luck with that one

The only thing that can be said for this hotel is that it is in a good location.
However, our room on the first floor was covered in mould and dust. The bathroom required the old privacy screen to be tugged down and the "door" was a cloth and some tassels.
The sheets were clean but the whole room was damp and not smelling of flowers.

This was a basic place but it was okay. The reception was friendly enough although I had little to do with the staff. I only stayed for one night.

The location was good as it was right by the park and it was close to the hutongs.

My room was on the back so it was really quiet but it looked out across a small corridor onto the offices so I had to keep my curtains closed to have any privacy.

What a charming little hotel in a great tourist street. Close to the Chinese Opera, two parks and some good eateries and within walking distance to the train and shopping areas. Staff were prompt in their attention and there is CTV and security. The is a lovely sitting area at the rear with power for recharging gadgets (but the smoke is not nice), wifi in the foyer and a pretty little garden restaurant. English was not spoken confidently. It was an adequate 3 star hotel at a good price.

This hotel looked like it would be lovely from the outside, it was very much let down by what was behind the entrance.

The hotel is on a lovely street of Chinese style buildings and the entrance was very pretty, you get to the reception through a little tree covered walkway. The corridors and the bedrooms were quite grim though. The corridor to our rooms weren't very pleasant, they were lined with tables which often had people sat at them smoking and eating food or were just generally untidy. when you were in your room and people were at the tables it was very noisy.

The rooms looked like they were nice several years ago but they were dated and grubby, the wallpaper was peeling and had been drawn on in our room and there were old cobwebs all over. There was a glass wall dividing the Bedroom and toilet, there was a blind but it was grubby and still didn't give much privacy, there also wasn't a proper bathroom door, just a thin curtain.

There wasn't an in room safe but there was a sign advising you to leave any valuables at reception. There was wifi which was hit and miss signal throughout the hotel.

One of the positives is that breakfast is available at the hotel for 10rmb and is pretty good - mostly Chinese food but hey we're in China!

The other main positive is the location, it's on a lovely street near some small convenience stores, restaurants and a bank, it's a short walk away from a lovely park and not too far away from some of the other main attractions of Chengdu.
