There is not a lot of reviews in English for this hotel, so I am glad I will be able to help some of the English speaking people with this review.
First of all the hotel is not near the city proper. It is a few minutes away from the city of Chengdu, a drive to the city would entail a 15 minute Taxi ride which you would pay 40-50 CNY for.
The hotel is a complex, it has its own world class Tennis stadium and other stadiums around the facility, last time I went around the Hotel, I counted at least 6 Tennis courts. The hotel is located in Sichuan which is a nice place but the malls and other sites around Chengdu would require you to take a taxi.
I actually went to the nearest mall which is the Outlet Mall, a mall full of branded shops but lower the price. I went there by taxi and it took my 8 minutes. I decided to walk balk to the hotel and it took me 25 minutes.
The rooms are spacious, high ceilings and minimal decoration, quite modern for a Chinese hotel. There are two hotels in the complex, one is the main hotel where in you will find the Hotel's restaurants and other facilities while a 5 minute walk from the main hotel is the business building. It is the cheaper version of the main hotel but it does not have amenities and you need to go to the main hotel to check in/out at the lobby.
The food in the buffet is very nice, you get a free breakfast every day of your stay here. Western and Chinese food and sometimes Japanese food is available. If you eat lunch and dinner, it will not be free and you will shell out 128 CNY for the meal.
The staff are kind and very helpful although 90% of them do not speak in English. The hotel has great security and the service is at par in 4 star hotels. My minor concern is that the housekeeping is a bit dodgy, for some reason the kettle in my room has not been cleaned all through out my 7 days stay here. So every time I want to drink the free Tea offered in your room everyday, I have to wash my own kettle because housekeeping never touches it.
The assistant manager is very helpful in the hotel, so if you have problems he is just a phone call away.
One odd thing is that the rooms do not have a doorbell, so if you are fast asleep someone knocking on your door will be missed. Apart from that the rooms have Chinese TV stations Only but the internet fast and the phones works perfectly.
I would definitely return to this hotel when I get back to Chengdu but I would recommend hotels in the city proper because the 4 star hotels there offer the same price. But if you are a Tennis fan or even if you have activities that involve being in the courts in the complex, do check it out!
