Disappointing. Like a B&B if you extracted all the quality, character, and charm. A $30 "hotel" for a $70 price. Your first indication that things are going south is when you enter the parlor of the main building and are confronted by an overpowering thrift store smell. Then, as the lights are turned on, and you see there's nobody there, you realize you're not in a real hotel for there's no front desk staff, only the nightwatchman who's let you in from the outside security gate. In your room you begin to notice gradually the miserly approach taken to the accommodation. There, you find synthetic sheets and a cheap blanket and pillows on your bed and in the bathroom, stiff and scratchy towels and toilet paper. There are no face wash cloths provided. And the bath fixtures including the toilet are of a 40-year-old style done black in color. The room is sparsely furnished and lacking many key essentials. The edges are hard and devoid of carpet or rugs. Due to the busy highway that fronts the hotel, while attempting to sleep you're subjected to an endless stream of loud traffic including heavy truck noise. This situation is made worse by the fact that the room window facing the trafficked street has not been installed properly with a sizable gap that allows noise and dank outside air to enter the room. By 6 a.m. you've been woken up by the sound of the commuter traffic outside. Finding your way to the breakfast room you see that they've served not real juice but the artificial Sunny Delight variety. You hope for some sign things will turn for the better and order French toast from the choose-one-only a la carte menu. You're presented with a single slice that's a greasy butter bomb. Returning to your room, you enter the shower where you're presented with a lukewarm stream of water. Overall, this is what I imagine the state hotel in North Korea would be like if you took away the TV and wifi. And the fact is that less than a mile away for less than half the price charged here, the hotel Don Jaime is much more comfortable and better appointed.

A special experience and if you go to Cali definitely need to spend a night there. Nice looking building, inside gorgeous decorations resulting in a very warm interior. You right away feel like being at home.
The manifold rooms for recreation or relaxing are definitely a plus.
And the food, mmmmm, very well cooked.
Another plus, for me at least, is that the owner speaks German and he is very friendly and sympa. Thanks and see you next time !

This hotel is unlike the rest in that it has the look of an old castle and each room is entirely unique and individual. The complimentary breakfast is generous and delicious and all of the staff and employees are extremely gracious, thoughtful, and kind hearted people. I also appreciated the dogs and cats roaming about the place just enjoying their lives. Will definitely stay here every time I return to Cali to visit my mother.

I use to come here at least 3 to 4 times a year from last 8 years. The staff and the owner are very cooperative. Hotel has all basic amenities and very good restaurant. It is classy as well as cheap. It has a small pool as well as small gym too.

After much time in the forest and parks it was a delightful experience to have rainforest outside our window. The window being a balcony and a magnificent spot for coffee and birds. The character and architecture of the building gives you a surprise around every corner. It is an understatement to say staff were friendly, especially with our very limited Spanish. To conclude great place, great food, amazing structure and people that make feel at home. Will return.

Room Tip: View over the pool
