A very big building, beautiful organ playing and singing during mass. The plaza before the cathedral is very agreeable too. Nice place to linger, look at all kind of peope and eat some fresh fruits.

A great place to spend some quiet moments, in an otherwise busy, noisy environment. It's really worthwhile visiting.

Catedral Metropolitana de Medellín is a very large and impressive cathedral built in a Neo-Romanesque style. It was constructed between 1890 and 1931. It is a dark and mysterious space that gives the traveler a welcome retreat from the bustling city life around it. Its design is very clean and close to the Romanesque aesthetic, which means that the church is not ornately decorated. Its beauty lies in its attractive, balanced design. I would not travel to Medellín to see this church, but it is definitely worth a visit.

The colonial revival style exterior of the Cathedral is an impressive brick structure. Inside the brickwork is exposed and is unadorned giving a very austere appearance. No decoration or ornamentation. I was fortunate to visit during morning mass and had the opportunity to hear the large pipe organ being played. Note this building is not open to the public at all times

The building is amazing both outside and inside it is totally worth it, the park in front is ok.
BE CAREFUL WHEN GETTING THERE, the streets surrounding the church are awful to say the least, we got there walking and regretted it. The entire area is full of addicts, prostitutes, drunks, etc.

It was pouring rain when we went into Bolivar square and approached this large brick cathedral. It was lunch lime and unfortunately it was closed. Pity’s really!

A nice looking cathedral though I've seen many more impressive ones in Mexico and other countries. The interior wasn't as awe inspiring as many others. The area around it is a place where some care should be taken, especially after dark. I personally didn't have a problem but I'm not really a person that gets too much trouble from drunks and addicts. There were a lot of these in the nearby areas.

This church is amazing. Is the biggest in the world built with mud brick. If you visit Medellin, you must come and see this Cathedral built at the beginning of the 20th century.

I attended a Sunday mass, and the church is beautiful. The other days of the week that I was in the area at the church was closed to visitors.

This is one of my favorite basilicas. A rather simple exterior, but the massive interior nave is quite spectacular. We went on a weekday and got to go up to the top. If you don't like elevators, this isn't for you; we squeezed 3 people in what seemed like a 1 person elevator. Ha! What fun! Don't miss this beauty in the rough neighborhood! Seriously, it's a little rough. Prostitutes and the like line the corners of what seems like blocks and blocks of religious stores. Wouldn't recommend visiting after dark.
