We stayed one evening and found the experience to be average. The room was very hot, and advice from the receptionist on dinner options turned out to be sub standard. Though its in a historic part of town, its in a less lit and interesting part of the city. We felt much more comfortable walking around more populated areas with restaurants etc.

The hotel is super! The staff work very hard at keeping the rooms and grounds very clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and Jorge is a fantastic resource for Santa Marta. The hotel is 2 blocks from Bolivar Square down a very well lit street,
I would highly recommend this hotel. The pool is a great way to cool down.
The breakfast is excellent....eggs cooked to your liking, arepas, bread, fresh fruit juice, cereal/muesli, and my favourite part - excellent coffee all day long!

I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, and I've read some of the negative reviews. So... The only bites I got were from mosquitoes outside a juice joint. The bed was lovely and comfortable, with a foam mattress on top of the ordinary one. The room was spotless; the maid does a fantastic job, pretty much single handedly. ALL of the staff were friendly, but particularly Jorge, on reception. The parrot is funny and chatty; if a squawking parrot bothers you, then you really shouldn't travel because there are animals out there and they sometimes make noises! This is a quirky, fun place, full of plants, knickknacks and charm. Signora Jude loved it!

This is a great place to stay in Santa Marta. We stayed twice between the trek to Ciudad Perdida. Very clean, good rooms and comfy beds with a great courtyard area with pool with shade to relax / sunbathe. The staff are fantastic especially Jorge on reception and the lovely Senoras who serve the tasty breakfast. Nice mixed crowd of some backpackers, some older travellers too.

During the last week of our 3 month trip my morning sickness really kicked and fortunately this was a lovely place to relax and unwind. As I was unable to muster the energy to leave the hotel, I very much enjoyed having the comforts of the outdoor space with hammocks, swimming pool, mini-fridge in the room, snacks for sale, books to loan, and TV. Best of all were the great staff and friendly cat and parrot. I plan to return and actually see Columbia next time.
