All local fare, serving the country's more known dishes. We actually ate here twice during our stay in Cotacachi, both for lunch. The restaurant is either (both) tucked down a long corridor, or located through the back of a high end leather goods shop. Very family run, all of the staff were very nice and worked well with our limited Spanish. The food was timely and freshly cooked, guarantee the avocados are coming off their ample tree in the courtyard. I would recommend this location for a meal, lots of light and friendly service. Food was the only reason I rated from 5 to 4 stars. While it was good local dishes, we felt it could have been a little better.

Thank Ben J

This place is tucked away down a hallway off the main street, 10 de Agosto. It is worth checking out, we really enjoyed our desserts and tea, and will definitely be back. It is nicely decorated, and very comfortable to enjoy a visit with friends. the pineapple pie with helado was delicious

Mobile review; kindly excuse brevity and any typos.

Caught at an awkward time between lunch and dinner, we popped into El Meson de Pedro for something to keep hunger pangs at Bay until meal time.

The restaurant is located behind a retail shop, and offers both interior and garden seating, and doubles as a helado (ice cream) shop.

Our party all ordered Locro Soup ($6), an Ecuadorian potato and cheese standard. It hit all the right notes, especially with the accompanying popped corn and aji sauce we added to taste. El Meson de Pedro even added a generous portion of avocado. The soup went quite well with a Pilsner piqeño ($2).

We couldn't resist finishing with some helado; in our case, coco and taxo ($2.50 for two balls/scoops). Both were tasty, satisfying, and surprisingly enhanced by a light cinnamon and a water cookie.

While we can't vouch for the full menu, we can highly recommend what we did try. Consider stopping by, when in the Otavalo area.

Suprisingly this was the best meal we had during our 2 weeks in Cotacochi. The stuffed trout was exceptional; (really it was butterflied open and then smothered with shrimp so there was no trouble eating it or messing with bones.) the mixed grill or bbq was also really tasty hand a nice sampler of sausages and meats. Very friendly chef and staff too.
