To describe this all encompassing trip in any way would be a dis-service. Words cannot explain the beauty, serenity and fulfilling experience that the VIP treatment Pikaia Lodge offers.

From the second we stepped off the aeroplane at Baltra the VIP experience began. The shortest of waits while our documents were process and our bags collected for us, signalled the efficiency of the experience that was to come.

The guest experience at Pikaia is both slick and effortless, the staff welcoming, efficient and hyper personal at all times.

A room with a stunning view awaits. 5 star food and wine all watched by the ever present and ever friendly Yellow Warblers and Darwin Ground Finches that bathe in the pool and bask in the sun.

WiFi is pretty slow so be prepared for the only tweeting you will do to be of the real life mating call of the blue boobies on North Seymour island.

The Pikaia Lodge your guys are astounding in their enthusiasm and knowledge. Gian Carlos, Sophia and Andrea each provided us with the depth of learning, local knowledge, pride and excitement that enables us to be experts by the time of our sad departure.

The Pikaia 1 yacht was a dream with great vegan and gluten free food delivered with pride by Ruben and team.

Andrew and Melissa at Pikaia Lodge - thank you for taking such great care of us.

This is a very special place to come for dinner. It takes around 30-40 minutes from Santa Cruz in a taxi and the road is a little bumpy as you take the journey into the highlands.

On arrival you walk into views that simply take your breath away. On a clear day you can see Gordon Rocks. On our night we had a misty scene which I still loved.

We drank cocktails around a fire pit and then ate in the main restaurant.

The service was high end - food choices explained, wines suggested and a very knowledgable waiter.

We had a tasting menu ranging from char grilled octopus (truly amazing), red snapper, soup, amouse bouche, and a chocolate fudge dessert deep in chocolate flavour.

The wine suited each course and the waiter kept us well watered.

A culinary experience I’ll never forget and well worth the journey into the highlands!

So, we had a very long stay here - 10 days - and it was the best holiday we have ever had, and we have visited many countries/cities/locations and stayed in many high quality resorts. Arriving here is just like someone has dropped you off in Paradise; The views are stunning - 360 degrees. This is worth the price alone. The hotel is beautiful.

The staff are amazing, you are treated incredibly well (particular shout out to Chris, Sophia and Marcia) and will do anything to support you.

As we stayed so long we got to know the staff I guess better than most will. Andrew the manager is hands on all the time. The food is excellent.

Some have commented on wifi. This has nothing to do with the Hotel. The island is just extremely poorly served, relying on satellite - max 3mb! You need to know this and expect little access.

The price point reflects the quality and exclusiveness of the experience and is comparable if not better value than any similar resort in the world.

Being objective, a few minor minor points - we were asked for our feedback and we mentioned the constant loop of jazz/lift type music, which also permeated the spa treatment room too which did detract from the experience and the gym equipment needs an overhaul.

Other than that this is perfection.

Dear Mr. Ed A

I can´t thank you enough for taking your time on writing your review and such a nice one too. It was a pleasure to have you as our guests at Pikaia Lodge and I´m happy to see you enjoyed your stay with us. I will share your comments with Chris, Sophia and Marcia who will be happy to see you mentioned them.
As you mention, we all must endure the lack of speedy internet in the islands, hopefully it forces guests to relax! Regarding the music, and gym equipment, we have made note of your comment and will work on improving.

Thanks again

Incredible location, exclusive, super services and fine gastronomy. A secluded paradise.
We stayed in Pikaia last week for 6 days and we had the best holiday ever!
The Galapagos islands combined with Pikaia Lodge land based programs are
definitely the best way to experience these magical islands without getting sea sick or
cramped into a yacht or cruise ship. We will return with our kids next year, they will surely love it
and will learn a lot about nature and conservation.
Keep up the great service until we return. Thank you very much!!

Room Tip: balcony rooms have the best views

We just stayed at Pikaia and hated the experience! The hotel is too expensive for what it offers. The food is terrible( they serve tetra pack juice in a 800 dolars a night hotel???), tvs in the rooms do not work, just dvd on galapagos documentaries and peppa pig. They always have an excuse... we stayed in really nice hotels around the islands and Pikaia was a huge disappointment!
Besides for the lame shower and room blackouts
The view does not pay for all the other inconvenients!

Dear Acalves1616,

Thanks for taking your time to review our property, I must admit this comes as a surprise to all the Pikaia team.

Our guests mostly come for our programs that allows them to have a complete Pikaia and Galapagos experience and always speak very highly about our property, service, restaurant and explorations. We get many referrals and satisfaction rate is very high.

Let me clarify that we don´t offer tetra pack juice for breakfasts. Only in this season when there are no oranges available in the islands we offer freshly squeezed pasteurized orange juice brought from the mainland. Some of our guests like to have orange juice regardless of its origin, and others enjoy other options of our natural juice selection.

Our restaurant captain reports she had interacted with you in many occasions and never received a complaint on your behalf regarding the quality of the food that mirrors the above comment. I see you stayed with us for a few nights and organized most tours independently. Many of your tours consisted in diving, therefore departing from the property before our restaurant opening hours, still our staff offered early breakfast service to your room at no extra charge. I see your departure time from the lodge was at 6:45 am for you to join your third-party dive tour. This leaves very little time to enjoy a proper breakfast.

Most of your lunches happened outside of the hotel due to the activities you had organized and only experienced one dinner with us. It would have been nice of you to comment about this while at the property to better accommodate your restaurant experience, instead of making a comment like this that doesn’t solve anything.

Regarding the TV cable, the previous supplier ended their services with no previous notice, and we are currently setting up a new contract. Bear in mind that Galapagos doesn´t have options for this service, this is not an excuse its reality. Additionally, allow me to comment that our showers have a water saving feature as an environmentally responsible action, but offer great amount of water, and I´m not so sure of what was the problem with the room blackouts!

It´s a shame you have chosen to end your experience in this way, instead of mentioning something while at the property at a timely manner. There are many things we could have done if we had known about them. Now I can only invite you to visit us again and have a clean start.

Regards
