My wife & I have been vacationing for many, many years in Avalon we are 50+ & enjoy this town pre & post season. We had been staying at a nearby hotel {across the street} however they have gotten carried away with there rates, So my wife and I decided to try something new this year. We were very pleased with the accommodations etc. at the Concord Suites.

I had a good feeling months ago when I called to make a reservation and it was taken care of by Ann, a 18+ year employee, who immediately made me feel welcome & like I had been a guest there for many years. At first my wife was a little apprehensive because of dragging her 60+ lb. load of goodies to the beach which was now another block away vs. the other hotel. Not a problem, Costco sells a beach buggy type stroller that is perfect for pulling thru the sand effortlessly. A separate bedroom, two flat screen TV's, very fast free internet, life is GOOD!

Room Tip: We booked a room on the top floor {3rd story} because we were told it is quieter there.

These suites are extremely clean and comfortable. The beds are very comfortable. The separate living room is great if there are early to bed people in your group. The bathroom is on the small side. The area around the property is great and the walking distance to the beach was a plus for us. The Wi-Fi reception was slow. maybe because we were in a unit at the very end of the building. We woiuld definitely return.

My husband and I stayed here for the weekend. It was clean and modern, yet still had a beachy feel to it. Perfect combo. There is a separate living room, which has a couch, kitchenette and flat screen TV. The beds are comfy, which is a big deal to me since I have a bad back. My friend stayed at the Golden Inn and it was a typical boring, blah hotel. And no separate living area. And more expensive to boot!

We will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: I always recommend a room that is away from the elevators and on a higher floor.

Concord Suites is great for a short stay with one or two kids. The pictures make the suites look larger than they actually are. Also both pools are not very warm and we went at the very end of August. I would suggest booking the bottom floor suites away from the pools. It allows more spill out room to the patio.

Room Tip: Book on first floor away from pools.

Very casual (just right for the location), but clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The 2 room suites with kitchenettes are perfect for a family getaway on this lovely island with its fabulous beach and surf. Only one short block from the beach, you can save some money as the ocean front places are much more expensive. The 2 pools are an added bonus.

Room Tip: Try to get the thrid floor rooms, great views and less noise. There is an elevator.

We stayed from Aug 3 - 6 and were on the 2nd floor closest to the un-heated pool (kids said the heated wasn't much of a difference). Nice view overlooking the pool, and street, but no view of the beach at all (if it matters to you). The rooms were clean upon arrival, and always tidied up nicely - so leave the "Service Please" door hanger on the knob. The electric coil stove top heated up nicely; utensils and cook ware were ample. The towels were abundant and replaced daily. For my family (of 5) we had almost 10 towels always on-hand. Toaster, colander, can opener, (bring your own blender), and a dorm style fridge make for a nice kitchenette. All you need are your own spices and produce from Buddy's Market on 83rd and 3rd. They have an adequate supply of organic and fresh produce, soy milk, butcher meats and basic staples - eggs, bread, etc. The ladies in the front office are pleasant and thourough. The DVD rentals are limited to 1 per room at a time. The ice cubes by the front office require a quarter for dispensing, but the ice cube maker by the unheated pool is free, so do yourself a favor and walk a few more feet to fill up - gratis. I guess the office wanted to make sure non-guests headed to the beach weren't filling up their coolers at the hotel's expense. One drawback is the limited parking, which may require you to park in the semi-circle area in front of the hotels' 2nd Ave (Sound Ave) entrance. Took us a while to figure out how to work the TV/DVD transponders and related remote controls, but we plowed on. TV in the living room and in the bedroom were nice. Bathroom was lacking vanity space, but we managed to fit everything on the ledge that goes from the mirror to the toilet. Fan is a bit loud in the bathroom, and doesn't quite suction anything. The sofa bed in the living room is beside a mirrored wall, and the front door has a screen opening to let in the nice breeze. The front window is fixed and is like a Bow type of window. Almost forgot to mention the board games in the Front Office - Monopoly, Chess, etc. The badges to the beach are like circular novelty pins, and were never checked by beach personnel while we were there.

Ample parking, cleaning staff is on their "A" game. Two nice pools with kiddie area. One block from the beach, close to both Stone Harbor and Avalon. You get a small kitchenette, two flat screen Tv's, room safe... and very cold AC. beach tags also . Couch is a hid-a-bed. Three / Four people per room (2 adults / 2 kids ) for a few days would be ok...longer than that it might get tough. Much better than the Golden Inn and allot less expensive.
