“Fantastic hotel with plenty to do!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2012

An amazing 2 weeks! Can't believe how much goes on at this hotel during the day. Amazing for families with children as there are plenty of kids clubs but a nightmare if you're looking for a quiet couples holiday.
Plenty to eat all the time and excellent quality of food - would not recommend the Chinese restaurant found the food undercooked and cold! Buffet restaurant and other places in the hotel brilliant.
Great at night - a "sports" bar with plenty going on karaoke etc and an adults bar which is a lot more quiet and relaxing.
Plenty of bars, restaurants and shops in the area only a 5-10 minute walk if you fancy a change we personally recommend the Bus Stop Bar if you want a nice mel and they also show English football if that's what you're into! They also have free Internet and iPads to use providing you buy a drink which I think is very reasonable!
Staff at the hotel were so amazing Especially the First Choice reps there was always someone on hand to help with any queries. You need anything these guys will help :-)
Now the only thing that I did not like is a personal thing I guess - I went on the beach once and did not go on it again - it was beautiful with a long pier but I got bitten by what I can only assume was sand ants or something like that which ended in a trip to the chemist and I am still scarred 6 months later! My feet were bitten terribly - I counted 19 bites on one foot and they were not mosquito bites. I was not bitten anywhere else and ended up with 5 different types of medication - on that note the pharmacist next to the hotel was wonderful very helpful and cheap!
Rooms were wonderfully clean - cleaned everyday!
Excursions can be booked at the hotel but they are very dear and can be booked outside the hotel much cheaper.
All in all - brilliant hotel, brilliant food, brilliant entertainment and a brilliant area!!

Hotel and First Choice
We stayed in a swim up room (Block 9) and this was excellent. If the pool gets too busy or you want some quiet time then you have your own area in which to do so. The room was clean and spacious with its own mini bar and tea making facilities. Did not really enjoy the "welcome meeting" as it was more like a corporate presentation with the reps bursting in (obviously the poor chaps have to follow a corporate scrip). Very impressed with Mohamed, nice person and very knowledgeable. Had a problem with the lamp stand in our room (received small electric shock) reported it to FC but the chap didn't seem that interested, didn't ask me if I was ok and didn't fill out an incident report, this led us to involve guests services who sorted it out quickly very good level of service.

Food - what you would expect from mass catering and all inclusive. Good choice of food and we really enjoyed al la carte evenings.
Entertainment
Stayed away from the "kids" area, which we nicknamed Neptunes ! and relaxed in the adult only bar, enjoyed the quiz nights a couple of times.
Pool areas
I wish the resort would make one of the pools adults only and heat the water, so swimming and holiday can be enjoyed to the full.
Beach
Very windy so didn't go that much other than to look at the sea. Amazing views.
First Choice reps.
I would urge the rep who was discussing what clientele or ethnic minority you may expect in Benidorm to do so in private and not when sitting on a sun bed in his uniform and chatting to other guests, you never know who is about and it is very unproffesional to do so. Can't remember his name, loud voice (obviously) and was going to Ibiza for the summer.

Other reps good, especially the local ones.

Flight
Crew very pleasant, we looked on it as a means to get to the sun, need to serve a hot meal instead of snacks. The aircraft was packed and cramped, my advice is pre-book a bottle of champage, it takes the edge off ! Come on Thomson, you know its long haul ! it would be great to have a premium cabin.
Excursion
Took amazing excursion into the Desert, rode a camel, saw the sunset, and had a meal, all served in a tented area. The stars look amazing and we were able to capture a photograph of the Moon, with the help of a telescope and local guide. Thoroughly recommended, but take some good shoes with you.

Summary
A relaxing break in the sun at the end of winter.

Room Tip: Book a swim up room/latecheck out.

March 2012 First time in Sharm and it indeed met my expectations, "What a let down" Perhaps perceptions are based on what you are familar with but I can only comment on how we saw it as a family.
The accommodation was not clean, it requires repair in places. The food was lacking in flavour and I did not touch the salad once for fear of stomach upset.
Other than one very busy heated pool all others were too cold for the children to enjoy.

As a positive, the Egyption staff were very good and attentive to the needs of children etc.

The gardens were attractive and well maintained.

We chose First Choice Holiday Village as we had been to their Algarve resort in Oct the previous year, it was a very good all round holiday, Sharm was the only holiday village available at this time of year and one that I will not visit again.

We travelled 26th March for 2 weeks with 2 small children. This was our third visit to this hotel although this year we had originally booked to go to the holiday village in Turkey we were later informed it was no longer going to open at Easter so decided to return to Coral Sea Holiday Village as we had enjoyed it so much on the previous 2 occasions.
The hotel itself is very pleasant, large clean rooms, nice well tended gardens etc. We stayed in block 11 this time and last year . We were up above the swim up rooms overlooking the quiet pool. I think this is a nice quiet location and no noise from the nightclub on the beach belonging to the next hotel.
The food as usual was fantastic so much choice in the main restaurant and we also enjoyed all of the la cartes, where you get to all sit down and eat together rather than one going to get food while the other sits with the kids etc. One of the main things we like so much about this hotel is the staff, they really can't do enough for you and really make a fuss of the children.
This year was the first time our 2 boys used the kids club and they wished they'd gone last year now as they enjoyed it so much and gave us some time to ourselves and we even managed a couple of evening meals on our own as there was stuff going on day and night for them. The first choice staff really work hard to make it an enjoyable stay and all seemed really pleasant.
The only downside this time was how busy it got during the second week when the school holidays started. You had to get up at about 7 to get a sun lounger at the main pool and even then there were hardly any left! Not quite so bad at the quiet pool or the beach! The towel guys will put towels down for you if you tip them but this is actually the cause of the problem I think, but it's a case of if you can't beat them you may as well join them! The first year we went was Jan 2010 before our boys started school and was a totally different place much quieter and cheaper, but still lovely weather, so well worth going out of season if you can!
We have always booked our trips through Falcon Adventures rather than First Choice as they are the same trips but much cheaper. If you go out of the hotel and turn right they are the second hut that you come to. We have done the submarine trip twice, the flat bottomed boat, horse riding several quad biking trips and Sinai by starlight and all have been excellent!
Overall a great holiday though there was an incident one night where a fight broke out outside the room below us this was due to the excessive amount of alcohol that had been drunk by certain people and was thankfully a one off incident and security arrived quickly to deal with the problem.
I would go back but feel like its time for a change now. Several friends have also been and all had a great time too. Well worth a visit!

This was our first time at the holiday village , it had been reccommended by members of our family who have holidayed there several times. It was beyond expectations, the food, staff and accommodation were excellent. The grounds were well maintained and well spaced out.The staff go out of their way to make your holiday special the service and friendliness were brilliant,as for the food ,the speciallity restaurants and the main restaurant were all spotlessly clean with a good choice of foods available. The accommodation was massive with a huge king size bed!! ,walk in wardrobe (fab), seperate shower room , wc and vanity area .The inclusion of a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities was an added bonus. the rooms were cleaned and towels changed daily, the pool bar staff were always attentive, replenishing drinks frequently. We had a fab time and were waited on hand and foot ,with special thanks to Mina our room attendant and Rami in the adult only bar, We will definatly be back.

We stayed as a family of 4 (including our boys aged 3 and 5) from 26th March for a week. Paid extra for a junior suite which was worth it in my opinion, as one of the boys got his own little bedroom area with a flat-screen tv. Don't be conned into thinking you need to buy a visa for each of you at £15 each if you are staying in the resort, you don't need one!
Moved through airport quickly upon arrival, but people buying the above-mentioned visas in huge queue meant we waited on the bus for over half an hour. Large number of people all arriving at hotel together meant a bit of a delay in getting to our room but nothing to complain about. We stayed in block 4, very handy for the pools and restaurant. I had emailed the hotel in advance to ask for a room away from the beach after reading previous complaints about the Pataya Beach Bar noise. The only noise I really heard was from the planes which start at about 6am but again nothing too serious. I assume lots of people wouldn't notice the planes but I hear a pin drop at 100 metres.

Bedroom was clean, could have been cleaner but toilet and basin clean. We had tea and coffee making facilities which I think you have to pay extra for in a standard room (we always have a tea when waking in the morning!). Walk in wardrobe a plus so you could keep the room nice and tidy.

The big bonus for us was the huge space on the beach for the boys to play. It is very coarse, more like gravel in parts but perfect for little people to dig in for hours at a time, without everyone getting plastered in sand! Sea very warm and shallow too so safe for children. Not too many interesting fish (we've been to another part of Sharm before and lots more there but no coral left here) but still enough for young children to see.

First choice kids club very good. Our children were in Little Stars and I felt happy to leave them there with the staff, it appears to be well-organised and staff friendly. Our 3 year old went to about 10 sessions over the course of the week, including Sweetie Bingo (£4 each) one evening so the husband and I had a quiet drink in the View Bar, which is adults only and most welcome after all the noise of a family holiday.

Evening entertainment was pretty poor, probably the worst part of the holiday. A 30 minute mini-disco would go a long way to entertain the heaps of little people crying out for some cheesy pop songs before the singer or act on after. The team tried hard but it just wasn't any good - neither adult nor child focussed!

We found the food to be very good and really you would have to be overly fussy not to find something at each meal. You have to remember that the hotel is catering for a large number of people so it is busy and not everything will suit you but I was happy that our children ate plenty of variety other than just chips. Only annoying this is that some parents let their children wander round helping themselves which can be dangerous with hot food and not most hygienic. Having said that, none of us suffered from upset tummies and most guests used the hand sanitizer upon entry to the restaurant.

Staff at the hotel were friendly, we tipped the chap on the beach who brought us drinks regularly and the barman in the restaurant who also kept us all topped up as well as our room cleaner. A smile and a thankyou goes a long way, some guests would do well to remember that!

In summary, we really enjoyed the holiday, had great weather and the place is ideally geared towards families. I'd love to go back later in the year.

Room Tip: Block 4 - had a junior suite near to the main building was fairly central

We went here with a 3 year old & a 3 month old. I was apprehensive with such a young baby but it was great. The rooms were very spacious & clean & the choice of food was amazing. The main restaurant catered well for small children. The staff were very friendly & polite at all times.
My 3 year old enjoyed the kids club & swimming lessons. The only slight issue was that the kids pool was freezing!!
