“Our second wonderful stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2011

We just returned from our second stay at the Atlantic View, and everything was just as wonderful as last time. Deb and Chris, the innkeepers, are worth the trip alone for their warm and welcoming nature, but the Inn itself is a delightful place to be. It is only one lot in from the ocean, and most rooms have an ocean view - with the windows open the waves will lull you to sleep. The downstairs parlor with fireplace and breakfast room are elegant and cozy, there is a wrap around porch facing the ocean, and the Inn has dedicated parking which is great during the summer months. Our favorite 2 room suite is reasonable and extremely comfortable with all the amenities - modern bathroom, prettily decorated, wifi, mini-fridge, and super comfortable King feather bed. I am just not telling you the name because I don't want our best kept secret overbooked for our next visit - figure out your own room, because the others are all beautiful, too!

As far as things to do, we rode the bikes provided and of course spent lots of time on the beach even though our stay was in winter. That didn't stop us from taking the few steps out to the beach for sunrises, or down the boardwalk to the inlet where you can watch all the boats go out to sea each day. In the summer of course, you can enjoy the beach with provided beach badges, dine at the seasonal restaurants, or go dancing in the boardwalk pavilion. If you want to explore, the town is the best kept secret on the shore, full of lovely historic homes and local flavor; all you need to do is walk the boardwalk with its trademark glass globe lamps, and you'll start to feel a slower, friendlier pace as locals say good morning or give a smile. If you go further afield each nearby seaside town has its own flavor - stately Spring Lake with its mansions, Belmar, where you can catch a tour or a fishing boat, Ocean Grove with its shops and unique culture as a religious retreat, or lively Asbury Park with its rock and roll history, performance venues, and revitalized downtown.

But back to the Inn, and the biggest reason it is special is because Deb and Chris will take good care of you. They made it a most elegant, comfortable destination, and they go out of your way to make your stay a great one, from their delicious breakfasts to helping out with special requests. Hope this helps you choose a wonderful place for your next vacation!

Room Tip: For best views, pick an east or south facing room. For quietest rooms away from the oceanfront, pi...

I highly recommend this B&B. We stayed over Labor Day weekend and had a wonderful time. We arrived very early on Saturday morning even though we knew the room would not be ready. We needed to get in a long run (marathon training) and the owners and staff were very accomodating. They took our bags as soon as we arrived and off we went. When we returned our room was ready a few hours early. The home is 1 block from the beach. They have beach cruisers (bikes) available all day. They also provide beach towels, umbrellas, chairs and beach badges. There is a full, not continental, breakfast with 6 different types of juice, coffee, and fresh fruit, served on the large front porch which overlooks the beach. The first morning we had a crunchy French toast with Taylor ham on the side. The second morning was a baked egg dish. Both were delish!!!The also have coffee and tea, oatmeal and cereal starting at 7:30am for early risers and a snack at 3:30 which is cookies/brownies/awesome homemade treats and iced tea and lemonade. There is a cold water jug available all day for bottle refills. There is a clothes line in the back of the house which is helpful for wet bathing suits, running gear, etc. You get your own parking spot at the Inn. This is very rare to have parking come with the B&B. The rooms were clean and well air-conditioned, which was nice coming in from the hot beach. We stayed in the Newport room - a Queen bed and a small day bed. Perfect for 2 friends. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. They helped us with dinner reservations and restaurants recommendations and all of our other silly requests. The owners Chris and Deb are also very helpful and friendly and making you feel very welcome and comfortable while not being over-bearing or completely out of sight. Just the right balance for a B&B. I will be back!!

We were warmly greeted and shown to our lovely room. Arrived early, but had immediate access to room and all amenities. Steps from beach. Delicious and beautifully presented breakfast. Parked car and walked everywhere. Can't wait to return. Debbie & Chris made us feel welcome. They are delightful.

The Atlantic View accomodated us for our anniversary on very short notice. We had a great time, good location with an ocean view. We really enjoyed the delicious breakfasts on the porch. We used the bicycles provided to see alittle of the beautiful surrounding area. Chris made reservations for us at an Italian restaurant which he recommended. It was delicious and they even wished us a happy anniversary. Debbie and Chris were very pleasant and we will stay again in the future. The Columns was on our side of the house and the music could be heard in our room. This wasn't a problem for us but good to keep in mind.

Room Tip: Our room was on the third floor. Lots of stairs if that is a problem for anyone. We liked our room...

We normally don't stay at B&B's, but we wanted to stay in Avon By The Sea and you couldn't beat the location!! Very close to the beach with 2 nice restaurants right off the beach for lunch...the Columns & the Avon Pavilion. Plus, a bathroom and beach shower were very accessible! Chris, Deb, Janice and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The other guests were very nice too. I felt very comfortable staying there...it felt like I was staying with family. The breakfasts were delicious and I loved the time it was served...between 9-10am. Also looked forward to the fresh afternoon baked goods with lemonade or iced tea. What a treat coming off the beach! My daughter and her friends took advantage of the outdoor showers while my husband and I used the indoor shower. The girls also used the bikes at night and I used the clotheslines to dry my towels after a day at the beach. We also liked not having to transport all of our beach chairs! The rooms were small and cozy. The beds were comfy. It was also great having a refrigerator in the room. I would probably suggest 2 easy improvements. Since we shared a bathroom that was connected to our room and the room our daughter and friend were staying in, it would have been nice if we could have locked the doors when we were in the bathroom to avoid walking in on someone. The other suggestion that I'd make would be to upgrade the TV's in the rooms. A nice flat panel wall TV would take up less space and would enhance the experience. Other than that, our experience was great. I personally didn't mind the window A/C as it DID keep the room nice and cool and also provided good noise for sleeping!

A small room, with a very noisy air conditioner was ok. However, dust everywhere, on the headboard, table, chest, etc., was not appealing. Under the bed an empty plastic bag and dust bunnies. The carpet in the room was very stained and very old. The upper hallways were very dark and dusty too.

The owners are very nice and pleasant. However, breakfast starting at 9 makes for a late start to the day, for those wanting to get going. A lovely grand porch with rockers, and breakfast on the porch is very pleasnt.

Sorry we’re just getting around to this review -- we’re trying to get up to date on Tripadvisor! So nice to hear you enjoyed breakfast on our wrap-around porch. Can you beat that view?! As for your room, we’re so sorry to read about the dust. Summers tend to get very busy for us, and it seems like dusting was something we may have breezed over. Just so you know, we’re always available, so please don’t ever feel funny asking us to clean anything!

Thank you for the feedback on the rooms. We’re always renovating, as well as upgrading the paint and furniture. We’ve recently renovated 2 rooms and 2 bathrooms, so feel free to come and check it out!

All the best,
Chris and Debbie, Owners

Chris and Deb were wonderful, warm and informative. The Inn is clean and they do a wonderful job with attention to detail - providing beach chairs, umbrellas and beach badges, cold water and snacks in the afternoon. Great location - a few short steps to the beach. Not to mention Chris does a wonderful job with a delicious breakfast!!! We will return again....
