This resort is amazing in so many ways. Attentive staff, beautiful location, delicious food. We have stayed in many places in Fiji and never come across such amazing staff. We felt very comfortable leaving our 9 month old daughter in their care whilst enjoying snorkelling on the house reef. Nothing was too much to ask and many things happened without our asking for them.
If you go expecting the "usual" 5 star experience, you may be disappointed as occasionally the power might be out or the hot water may not be running. We left feeling like we had discovered something truly special.

Room Tip: The Wai villa has great views.

We traveled to New Zealand and Fiji for two weeks for our honeymoon and when we arrived at the Remote Resort, it really felt like our honeymoon! It was romantic, scenic, and secluded and the accommodations were beautiful. The service is what really makes this place stand apart, as we felt like we made friends with the staff and they catered happily to any need. We loved the villa, outdoor shower and private pool. And absolutely loved the different dining options throughout the property - it was so beautiful and romantic. The food was mostly great and there were a lot of options, even for picky eaters like me, and they were able to customize as requested. As we knew, there was no AC, so the room did get a bit hot at times and there were a lot of bugs in the outdoor areas, though they provide ample bug spray. The excursions were great, especially the village visit. You may want to bring some items for the kids in the village (school supplies, toys), as they really appreciate it - I wish we had thought to, but hope to send some items to them via mail. The only snafu was when we took the kayaks out and got a little stranded because of the choppy waters and the hotel cell didn't work as it was supposed to. I ended up having to get a new cell phone because mine got covered by seawater because their waterproof bags weren't actually waterproof. I think it was overall just bad luck, but just use your judgement for any outdoor activities as you are in fact, in a pretty remote location. Also, I had a mani/pedi the first night that was really terrible (I asked the technician to stop midway) but the resort didn't charge for it and the other services (facial, body scrub) were nice. While all staff were extremely friendly, helpful and seemed happy, we learned that many work crazy hours and only get to see their families a few days month. I would encourage the owners to give them some more well deserved time off.

Bula! We are glad to hear that overall you enjoyed your stay at The Remote Resort. Following your feedback we removed manicures and pedicures from our spa menu as we agree with your assessment that the quality of the polish deteriorates very quickly in the humidity resulting in a lower quality finish than we desire. I also agree with your advice to future travellers to use judgement for outdoor activities based on the conditions on the day. The Remote team are always available to be your guide for snorkelling or kayaking which helps to assure the safety of our guests. I can also assure you and future travellers that our team are our greatest asset and we treat them with the utmost respect and care. We operate a roster offering three weeks of work, followed by one week off, with a daily shift of eight hours per day. Most of our team travel great distances to work at the resort, so it is not feasible for them to go home and back each day, nor each week in many cases. We do have team members from the nearby village who have weekends off as their village is just a 10 minute boat ride from the resort. Thank you for your care for our team and please be confident that we will continue to care for their wellbeing above all. Indeed they are what makes Fiji one of the happiest places in the world! Sincerely, Natasha Dimmock

from the moment we approached the resort on our boat transfer we realised we'd found something particularly special. the boat sidled into the jetty to a chorus of staff voices singing our arrival. we were greeted with a phrase that would become increasingly familiar with each day, 'you are now part of the family'. and everyday we felt this strong familiarity of belonging. this place is a tropical dream, consisting of only 6 villas you get the sense of having the island to yourself. with staff aplenty to cater to your every need and desire and numerous activities to explore there isn't a dull moment, unless that is what you want sitting on your private deck reading your book. it is with certain reluctance writing this as i feel an innate sense of jealousy having to share this place with anyone. but to not give credit to such an amazing experience wouldn't be fair. We cannot wait to get back!

Imagine the bet Four Seasons in the world and then multiple the service level by 10 and you have the Remote Resort. From the moment they welcome with the staff singing, to the moment you leave with another staff song, they are attentive to every possible need and the entire staff (3:1 staff to guest ratio!) knows your name. The rooms are top notch quality and the attention to details is fantastic. And the food...it's like a $100 per person meal in a top restaurant every night (included in the room price). The activities and location are also fantastic (once you get there). Overall, hard to beat.
