I vacation 10 days in the Society Islands - Mo'orea, Taha'a, and Bora Bora. My 3 day stay on the island of Taha'a was the best part of my vacation and it was because my experience at Fare Pea Iti! My sister and I were traveling together, thus we did not require a bungalow experience. We stayed in a large and comfortable room with a private porch attached to the main property. This was a great location for us because we were able to interact with Pascal, Chef, and the family dog often. The property is beautiful and has a sunset view of Bora Bora. The staff is beyond helpful and friendly - they make you feel at home. The food is out of this world. Every meal is memorable. Pascal is very much a part of the island community and he will suggest and arrange activities for you, such as bike to the vanilla farm and pearl farm, snorkel the coral gardens with his boat Captain, boat to private Motu, enjoy a traditional Polynesian BBQ, ... Fare Pea Iti does it all! Highly recommended for a warm, relaxing vacation among wonderful people.

We stayed for one week at a waterfront bungalow. The transfer from the airport takes about 40 minutes by boat which is a nice introduction to the area. Taha'a is a low key, sleepy place without all that many activities. You're pretty much limited to the Coral Gardens, pearl farms and vanilla tours it seems. The hotel offers kayaks/outrigger canoes but the wind was too strong. Pascal offers his own tours and we took the motu tour with Homai which was reasonably priced. The tour offers a better swimming opportunity than the hotel waterfront due to the shallow water. Your swimming choices are the outdoor pool or boat mooring area.
We had hoped to cook some of our own meals but there was no kitchen or microwave in our bungalow. Restaurants are few and far between so you're limited to the hotel on-site dining. We usually ate dinner at the hotel but not lunch or breakfast. Dinners were generally well prepared, varied and tasty. We particularly liked the fish dishes and the lamb. I ate breakfast at the hotel s few times but it did not seem to be a great value for the money since anything beyond the offered baguette, croissant, fruit, coffee and yogurt was extra. The nearby store usually has a good selection of breakfast items and fruit can be found if you look around town. A working kitchen would be nice but we understand its absence due to the restaurant.
We either walked or took the hotel one-speed bicycles and rode about 8 to 9 kilometers on either side of the hotel. That takes you by several pearl farms and small stores. The closet magasin sells water and juices and snacks plus canned and boxed foodstuffs and bath items.
Pascal was warm and friendly and helped out with one tour when the taxi did not show up. Pascal has a wealth of stories to tell and his English is better than my French. His team helped make our stay memorable.

ia orana,

We stayed there for 3 nights. We had originally booked only breakfast but added dinner to that which was a great decision. The dinner was every day very good, we even got one of the best lobsters that I ever had.
The first night we stayed in a bungalow without air conditioning but could change to another one wit air conditioning for the rest of our stay. Think about that when booking

Room Tip: Not all bungalows have A/C

Long story short: simply the best!! Book it!! Pascal and his wife are managing this wonderful place the best way, and most of all let's not forget about "Homai" the best island-touch you can dream of to guide you through your stay on the Polynesian most beautiful island!! Just amazing.

Don't make the same mistake I did and only stay for a couple of days, stay at least five days or a week.
We stayed here for couple of nights in Jan and everything from airport pickup to drop off. You get picked up by boat at the airport by Umi and then transferred to Tahaa, it takes about 40 minutes, sat in the front of the boat crossing the clear blue water was a great start to our trip.

We had a beach front villa that was large and just steps from the water. The room was very well appointed with a nice comfortable bed and a large balcony. The owners Pascal and Bridgette and the staff could not do enough for us. The meals they served were absolutely delicious and it was a privilege to see Pascal and his young chefs lovingly prepare everything.

Umi will take you for lunch on their own private island(Motu) or snorkeling at great spots around the island if just lazing around is not for you.

I really hope to make it back in the future but next time I'm staying for a week.
