Good hotel, pleasant and courteous staff, Front Desk/Reception very helpful and efficient; good-sized room. Minibar and snacks in the room provide adequate variety of items. Good quality toiletries, some provided on request The hotel has a pleasing ambience.

The hot water kettle should be checked by the hotel as the switch button needed to be pressed while the water boils. The switch button would turn off if you do not keep pressing it. The bathing gown in the room perhaps fits only slim women or children aged 10-14. Men can't use it.

Buffet Breakfast was disappointing especially if you regard it as the main meal of the day. It is supposed to start at 7.00 a.m. At 7.30, there were two waiters without attending to the guests. The captain/head waiter was visible at around 8.00 a.m. with a couple more waiters. Watermelon juice was fresh, other juices were canned juices. No salad dressings were visible with lettuce and other salad items. The typical South Indian snacks of Idli and Vada were poor quality. Museli and corn flakes and doughnuts etc. were good. In short, the breakfast facility and the quality of food can be better. The freshly prepared cheese omelette was quite good.

I am not sure of the quality of lunch and dinner in the hotel. I had never heard of a Liquid Buffet and perhaps it is what others call "Happy Hours".

Room Tip: Rooms with even numbers provide a view of the city.

Popularly known as James Plaza in the 90s, later converted to Park Plaza and now simply the James Hotel - this place has seen many transformations, yet what remains in tact is the quality of food and warm hospitality! There is hardly any guest seen here opting for a la carte, and hence the restaurants of James are purely running on their buffet! And why not, James makes sure it offers the best quality and variety in their food!

In the dinner buffet, they offer two veg starters - out of which one is palak chaat and the other is fried finger food! The palak chaat is not much appealing, it is almost like paalak pakode in curd and chutneys! While the cheese bullets consist of traces of cheese minced with potatos and crusted with bread crumbs!

The soup offered here is the broth of vegetable stock, something that is rarely served at restaurants but only found in the kitchens of your home! Absolutely healthy and rejuvenating! Along with the soup you get a variety of soup-sticks.

It is quite rare that in a buffet meal my main concentration was main course, and this rarity occured at James! Whether it was Indian, Oriental or Mediterranean, the selection and quality of main course was absolutely up to the mark! I had majorly relied on main course to get my fill, and even took a second serving of the meal!

Among the desserts, there were the usual cakes and mithais, the good thing about the desserts was that there were a good number of eggless cakes too! But the bad and rather total disappointment was that the serving size of the pastries was small!

The pastry had only thick cream icing and just a thin layer of cake at the base - so basically when you are eating the pastry, you are only eating the cream on the top! The walnut pie was the best of the lot!

The place is good enough for a medium budget, good quality buffet!

The hotel is average, maybe not used for a long time. A bit dull looking, hallways not well lit, the carpet is frayed and the rooms are musty. Lobby is ok, food not that good. Average, you get what you pay for. However kudos to the cleaning staff for the rooms-our room was very well cleaned up in October. She/he did a great cleaning job.
