“Wonderful Holiday”
Reviewed 16 March 2012

We stayed in this hotel for 4 weeks in January and February 2012. The room we were allocated on arrival was ideal for for what we wanted. Our friends room was an upgraded room but did not have a balcony or patio but was very smart and comfortable. A simple request for a room with an outside area got them a much more suitable room. We did not book this holiday through one of the major travel firms and found the hotel very helpful in this. The hotel and grounds were very clean and attractive. The food was obviously Goan but there was always a choice of Mediterranean or Western and some really nice salads. ( Breakfasts could be virtually full English ). There was also another excellent restaurant where you could have more recognizable, freshly prepared, Indian food and one night every week there was a sort of B-B-Q when you could have local fish dishes at very competitive prices compared to local bars. Also, one night a week was a theme night when the restaurant was closed and the dining was Al fresco with the chefs cooking fresh. There was entertainment every night. The staff, cleaners and waiters, were excellent and couldn't have been more helpful. The pool area was kept very clean and the waiters around all the time keeping everyone supplied with drinks and snacks. The close proximity of the beach and local amenity's make this an ideal situation. This all inclusive holiday was real value for money and I would recommend it to anyone. Also, by booking flights and hotel independently from the main tour operators, we saved about £250.00 each.

We travelled with Thomas Cook and stayed in the whispering Palms Hotel from 23rd Feb to the 8th March. We arrived in reception at aprox 01.30 and were bought nice cool drinks, check in was ok and we were given room 204, the porter bought us up to our rooms very quickly and was very helpful. We asked for a double quite room and were given a twin room and in the morning it was very noisy as the traffic to and from the beach stall holders were getting ready to set up for work. We asked to move and were told that there were no rooms and that the only option was to upgrade and it would cost £150. we didn't want to have to pay for a double room so pushed it more and were told to come back the next day when other people had gone home, we were then given room 106 which was a double and directly opposite the nightly entertainment! it was so noisy every night it was impossible to watch our films which we enjoyed and the air con wasn't working so once again we asked to move and were given room 443 directly behind the kitchen extractor fan and staff toilet where staff were passing by 24 hours a day, chatting and laughing and the noise form the extractor fan was horrendous!! That was our saga of the rooms the rest of the hotel was as this

Reception staff
when dealing with reception staff they either pretended to not understand what we wanted (hence the really bad rooms) or they deliberately put us there because we complained?? you could ask the same question to 3 different staff and get 3 different answers! We found reception staff REALLY unprofessional.

Restaurant
Staff were wonderful always checking there was plenty of food and that it was warm, offering drink service and clearing tables.. food was the most delicious food i have ever had at a hotel AI, all areas were always clean

swimming pool area
The swimming pool was really nice and clean and a nice size, I found it difficult to get in and out of it though as the ladders have rounded steps, this is all getting updated during the monsoon season which i'm sure will look and be lovely. there is only one female and male communal toilet which was difficult at times. there were waiters offering drinks around the pool and you could get snack during the day too.

Rooms
The rooms are large and kept very clean fresh bed sheets most days. Air con really noisy!!
not much space to put 2 weeks worth of clothes. Nice TV and good films on it which we always like to watch in the evening..couldn't hear much on this holiday from the noise of the air con and extractor fan!!

All in all this is quite a nice hotel and the situation really upset us about the rooms, which makes us apprehensive about returning!

Just returned from a 14 night stay at the Whispering Palms Resort.
From the moment we arrived it was perfect, Reception very good, lovely room, food & drink was good and always something different to try on the menu.
Close to the beach & yes you do get hassled from the sellers but this is India & if you dont like the hassle of bartering & eating Indian food , you are best going to Benidorm.
Cant wait to return to Candolim & whispering Palms next year when the refurb will be finished.
The plans look great.
All in all from Management, Reception, Waiters, Housekeeing etc we could not fault this hotel & well done to all the staff.

Not a nice place to stay only ate once in the hotel as food very poor and repetitive. Rooms small and cramped not enough room to put. clothes, they were also in a poor state as was the whole hotel. .Not enough room around the pool only about 30 sunbeds so spent every day on the beach. Would I stay there again no not even if I was paid to, this is not an unfair review just giving an honest picture.

Room Tip: I just would not be able to reccomend this hotel

Just returned from another trip to Candolim. Very enjoyable despite the ridiculous alcohol ban for the elections !!!. We stayed at the Whispering Palms Hotel, Once the refurb is finished at the end of this year it will be amazing. We found Abdul at Jaipur Gems ,the jewellery shop attached to the hotel to be most helpful and we bought a beautiful diamond from him at a fraction of the cost in the U.K. Also out and about and the abundance of shops and street sellers we also found one of the best to be just outside the hotel opp the Mermaid Restaurant. An Alladins cave of a shop called The 4 Seasons.. he has some lovely things and a really good price... we bought some sandles for the beach but one of them broke after a couple of days and he exchanged them no problem..Didn't use the Be Happy Taylor this time but they really appreciated the chocolate we took them and they were always busy with new customers.. As usual the little shop opp the hotel had good exchange rates and is very handy for the internet, again an Alladdins cave selling all sorts of toiletries, cigs, booze etc.. we even got a new chip for our camera half the price of the U.K... This time we used our own taxi driver called Sid who was recommended to us.. Very cheap and reliable .. He can be contacted via facebook or phone if anyone is interested let me know.Had lots of lovely meals out. Cecilia's was one of our favorites... There is so much within a 5 minute walk of The Whispering Palms. Its in a great spot and if you don't want the all inclusive option the Sunset Beach next door is nice alternative.
