Amazing staff.. went out of the way to comfort me.. food was just perfect and balanced to keep me going healthy for the wild adventure trip. If I could give more than 5 star ratings I would do that also.. special thanks to Lumti the manager there for the perfect stay. And not to forget my birding guide Hari Om, without him it wouldn't have been so special

stayed 2nights//3 days at gir birding lodge in january of this year with a fellow birding enthusiast.. cottages are spacious, nicely kept and clean. setting is serene and right in the the periphery of the forest with mango tress providing ample opportunity to spot birds within the compound. manager alem is courteous, friendly, prompt and always willing to assist. the best part of the place was the food , sumptuous yet simple and well spread out in terms of the variety, catering to both the veggies along with the non vegetarians .. highly recommend this place to fellow travelers and birding/wildlife patrons. worth a visit

Room tip: all rooms are good

Every room is in an own Cottage. It`s very spacious but it smelled a bit old.
The dinner was not so good. We got rice and french fries with litte of vegetables.
We made a bird safary with a very nice and competent guide. Unfortunately I forgot his name. He knew all the birds and gave us his binoculars to look at them. At the end he didn`t want any money.

Room tip: All Cottages are in the mango orchard and you have a view to the garden.

A peaceful, comfortable and helpful hotel, with excellent food. Value for money. The view from the cottage (we stayed in 'Owlet') of the vast just-fruiting mango orchard (sharing a boundary wall with the Gir forest, and hence slightly scary at night for fear of curious guests from the real jungle) was heavenly. The staff (from the Manager Ms Alem downwards) were courteous, always smiling and ready to be of assistance. No TV and an indifferent mobile connectivity (especially with Airtel) was a blessing in disguise, as one could concentrate on the sounds and sights of silence. The hotel arranged for the early morning safari jeep, with an expert driver. A good guide joined us at the Forest entrance. However we did not see a lion. With so many human beings (20 jeep-fulls or more !) chasing them all at once, they are wise to be away. But the dry deciduous forest, with its naked beauty (trees totally shorn of leaves) is a thing to experience. Last, but not the least, was an evening of birding with hotel staff Ravikant, at the nearby Hiran riverside, which was full of discovery (for first-time avian enthusiast like us), gently aided & prodded by the knowledgeable Ravikant (he hails originally from the environs of the Bharatpur bird sanctuary in Rajasthan). Minor cribs: The bathroom floor tends to collect water, for lack of a convenient nearby outlet. One of the window shades has a gaping hole in it, good for would be voyeurs. And the arrangements for accompanying taxi-cab drivers (we were driven from Ahmedabad) are inadequate.

Room tip: Individual cottages facing the mango orchard are good, especially the one named OWLET, nearer the dining space than the reception.

Stayed three nights at one of their self contained cottage within the mango orchard. In Gir Birding lodge I have not seen many birds, though the whole complex is tranquil, the sweet scent of mango flower was an added bonus.
Food was nothing to write home about. The lodge is not properly manned. Once I had difficulty to get my room key, as there was no one at the reception desk. The room will be cleaned if you only ask for it.

Room tip: Cottage was specious
