Tricity which includes Mohali-CHD-Panchkula are great places and you will have a lot to visit there but if its hot day or if you are bored with seeing a lot of traffic around you then just 21km from Panchkula a quite and calm place is situated which is really mesmerising. Morni Hills are one of the best place I have ever visited. The road to Morni is quite steep and if you are on bikes then you will feel that and the road is itself adventurous. If you go there by car then you won't enjoy the road much. Please don't try to go there on activa. The place is calm and peaceful and you feel some kind of cold even if there is hot in chd.

Well friends morni hills is a great place for the birds watching and trekking lovers. this place is away from the city life so its peaceful out there. its is a one day hang out with friends and family, there is two small lakes and a museum too. hotels and accommodation is according to your budget. climate is very very nice out there so that you can feel fresh there. for safety propose I will suggest not to travel at night it better to move before night. once should visit once.

if one is around Panchkula.... it is a place worth dropping in for a picnic... boating, food and views are nice.... one could also do a bit of grass track driving if it one may fancy...

Pros:
Not Crowded. Peaceful place.
Tikkar Taal lake is cool picnic spot.
Road is fine.

Cons:
Temperature is only around 4 degree less from Chandigarh. So make sure it's not hot before you go.
No market. You can just spend time at lake or go to adventure park near the lake.
No petrol pump on the way. Make sure your tank is full.

Tikkar taal is around 55 kms from Chandigarh. Kasuali is around 65 kms.
Kasauli is at height of around 1900m above sea level and Morni hills around 1200m.
Kasauli is much cool and better option to visit during summer time. Tikkar taal is fine for a change but when it's not hot.
