Located just off Dal Lake on Boulevard Road, this is a heritage property set in fruit orchards. We stayed here 4 nights in June and would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Srinagar.

When making the booking, we were told that one didn't have a choice of rooms and we were given the ground floor room at the back of he villa which was just across from the kitchen. While we had no issues with noise/smells from the kitchen (a few reviews mention this) we were really troubled by really loudly creaking floorboards of the room above. I am not sure if this is a problem in all ground floor rooms.

When we reported this to the management, they moved us to the cottage next door for the next 3 nights and also adjusted the tariff lower. We had a lovely stay in the cottage which we had to ourselves. It was a bit of a trek to main villa for dinner since it was raining most nights during our stay. But we welcomed the seclusion from the main villa.

The staff are excellent and food superlative. We had dinner on all the nights at the villa. The menu is set but there is variety and food is served piping hot after you are seated at the table.

The owner was not in residence during our stay and I feel her presence would make a big difference in terms of trouble-shooting as well as providing local information.

The TV and WiFi didn't work in the cottage (probably because they weren't expecting to let it out). WiFi was weak in the main villa too but that I suspect was a problem all over Srinagar.

On the whole, I would definitely recommend staying at Almond Villa to anyone looking for an unusual stay experience. It is not a typical hotel so don't expect room service and other hotel-like amenities!

Room Tip: Avoid the ground floor room to the back of the villa (the one near the kitchen). First floor rooms a...

Almond Villa is where I have enjoyed one of the best holidays of my life...

The occasion was a family reunion, in our ancestral land, now war-torn. Most of us were meeting after many years, with kids/ spouses et all. The older generation had significant childhood memories they were contending with. So suffice to say - emotions were erratic and high.

And it was in this beautiful villa that we all came together, harmonised, found our roots & built deeper bonds.

Almond Villa nurtured us, with its various charms. The "no entry" gate, just off the Dal Lake - keeps it well hidden, as it sits magnificently on the most prestigious Boulevard Road. The Apple orchards we drove through to get to the villa, melted away our urban-busy--life stress.

Spring descended into our senses, as the adjoining gardens were ablaze with a multitude of flowers & scents & bees & dragonflies. The Shankracharya mountain made a perfect backdrop, protecting & blessing this villa & all of us who had come to enjoy its comforts.

The villa inside is old elegance and riches...With its wooden flooring, huge ceilings, vast bedrooms and the most stunning carpets, durries, kilims, sofa covers, artworks adorning the walls. The living room upstairs was a great space to spend the long chilly evenings, over spirited conversations.

The food catered to a north indian palate, rather than local-Kashmiri (so we ordered from outside restaurants when we craved that). The staff was quiet and very helpful. They were up really early when we requested for packed breakfast prior to departure.

I am surely going back, with those I love.

Room Tip: Choose from Rose, Lotus or Sunflower room on the 1st floor...

Almond Villa is located between the Dal and the mountains which made it a perfect spot to relax and do nothing and read that book that I had been meaning to read for a while. The rooms are large and airy and very comfortable. The food is very good. The best part of the villa is the back garden where I spent an amazing afternoon just reading while my daughter blew on dandelions and chased butterflies and bulbuls.

Room Tip: The room at the back is close to the garden but also close to the kitchen. The front rooms and the f...

Our stay at Almond Villa in Srinagar was amazing. The villa is beautiful with a huge backyard and the front of the villa is facing Dal lake. The staff is extremely helpful and courtesy. This place is absolute value for money. Do pick up their jams especially the mulberry jam which is full of mulberries. The food is simple and wholesome. Everyday we ate breakfast in the backyard which is picturesque. If you get a chance you must stay here as you will not be disappointed.

This heritage listed B&B is a delight. Set in orchards opposite Dal Lake, about one KM from Nehru Park it is both convenient & tranquil. From the moment you sip your first welcome cup of Kawa tea, you know comfort and ease.
The property provides rooms in the main house and in Walnut Cottage. This is a fully self contained 3 bedroom cottage in the gardens.
A sumptuous breakfast is provided. Evening meals may be ordered for an extra fee, as are snacks. they are well worth it. THE FOOD! much of it is sourced locally from Organic Orchards & gardens. Fresh picked strawberries and cherries for breakfast! the variety and tastes are superb. The chefs cater for food allergies and religious requirements. All the staff are helpful.
The beautiful gardens are perfect for relaxing, while inside, the comfortable lounge areas offer books, games and entertainment options.
The beds are comfortable, all ensuites have hot water.
Your hosts, Joti & Viv are knowledgable about the area, history and people and religions. they are happy to share their knowledge and passions with guests.
Almond Villa hosts Yoga Retreats, Art Festivals and a lively Farmers Market at the week end.
Due to security reasons in Kashmir, internet and wifi are NOT easily available to any non Indian traveller.

Room Tip: A family would prefer Walnut Cottage, as would limited mobility guests as guest rooms are upstairs i...
