A Quiet Well Located Boutique Hotel, in a small cul de sac, just off lavallee road.
The Rooms and Bathrooms are well sized, almost like junior suites, with a minimalistic look.
The Small Garden sitout overlooking the Lotus Pool is Nice. The Staff, too, are pleasant and eager to please.
The Property does some issues with general Supervision in maintenance, and, housekeeping, however, as the reviewer had issues with Ants and Mosquitos in his room and also that the Terrazzo Floors in The Room and Corridors could use better cleaning and mopping standards than the traditional Broom and Bucket.
The Property serves a Simple but Adequate Breakfast.Room Service is Avoidable as both the pricing and Variety leave something to be desired.
There are many good Dining Options, at various price points, within 5 to 7 Minutes Walking Distance.
Overall a Decent Place to stay without breaking the bank.

Room Tip: Difficult to locate. Go to The BMW Dealership Navnit Motors on Lavelle Road, the Hotel is in a Cul D...

Nestled in a quite cul de sac, just off Lavelle Road, it is unknown, still it is discovered. When we stepped in around 10 in the evening and was told that we need to decide within next 5 minutes whether we need anything to eat, we were thinking - hey, where have we landed? Once inside the room, we were pleasantly surprised. Nicely appointed room, pretty large, with all basic amenities provided for.

Next morning had more surprises for us. Dining area in the lobby has two nice water bodies, with plenty of water lilies (Nymphaea nouchali) and small fishes, a small artificial waterfall and double height ceiling. It was a really nice ambiance, and supported by ever smiling staff. Food was simple, but all fresh and good.

Throughout our stay, we never felt that we left our home. Everyone was willing to help. On a late night return, we found the dinning area lights are off and the whole area was resonating with frog calls! It was so nice that we just quietly sat down to absorb the nature around us for some time.

Dear Sir,
Thank you very much for your review. When purple lotus was built, we had very carefully kept in mind to keep the place small and quite, where we could still hear the nature, right in the mids of a huge traffic bound city. Happy to know that we still have people who appreciate frogs conversing on hot summer nights just before the rains set in.

2 reasons that make this hotel special--superb location and Armugam ( Front office Manager ). He is an absolute gem and his attention to detail and customer satisfaction make this hotel special. The rooms are spacious but very worn at the edges. Door locks and the room safe are outdated, bed linen and towels are gray and getting threadbare. Hot water showers continue to be a mirage and the wifi is painfully slow.
Go if you must--the location and Armugam are what set this hotel apart !!

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet

Thank you very much for you review. I apologise for not responding earlier to all the short falls you have experienced during your stay with us. I have made a note of it, and will assure you that they will be all taken care of by your next return to the hotel. Yes, you are right, Armugam is one of our most valuable staff members, who has grown with purple lotus, I am sure he would have been very happy to have read your review. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

There is something really likable about this hotel: stylish yet simple, classy but not ostentatious, modern but with a history, something inviting and warm which feels like a home.
I had visited 2 years ago and was happy on this recent stay to see that they have improved the breakfast which is now very decent. And I was delighted to see the wonderful lotuses more vivid than ever!
The whole staff is adorable, special thanks to a very efficient and professional Anjali at the reception. The Manager is... the night staff, ok why not? But who is here to really take decisions on the building? Well nobody in fact.
The problem is that the direction know too well that their hotel is good and they have stopped making efforts and real maintenance for the last 2 years… Their last visit was… 11 months ago!! Negligence is the word here. As a result:
- Huge problem of hot water already mentioned many times on this site, repairing would be very costly as the whole heating system needs to be changed
- In case of rain, windows leak severely; they need serious reparation (and a good clean up from outside)
- In my room, the desk was badly stained, curtains were hard to operate, sliding doors were not sliding anymore, bed was damaged, toilet flush did not really flush… All this needs to be seriously looked at...
- Daily clean-up is well done well but deep cleaning, scrubbing, whitewashing and repainting seem to be pending for a while

The direction apparently considers Purple Lotus as a cash machine in which they have no plan to invest any further. Careful guys, this is how you will lose your quality and reputation! Shame on you to mismanage this unique place!

Room Tip: 4th floor for a better view

Richard Delamour,
We apologise for the delayed response. Let me start by thanking you for your detailed review, I have made a note of all your pointers, and will ensure that they are all put into place. The persisting hot water issue is due to the eco friendly Bio brick water heating systems that we have adopted, keeping the depleting energy of the universe in mind, but however, we have taken care of it to a very large extent now.
We look forward to your return to purple lotus, to enjoy the positive vibes that exist on this ground due to the great history of the place. and also the living presence of the lady, who fought for the freedom of our country.

Happened to stay one night at this hotel. After seeing good reviews, thought to try it.

Some good points: Centrally located but in small lane. Staff was gentle though not polished. Restaurant ambience was good.

Room was okay types and breakfast was also average.

Bad point, manager told me taxes will be charged at 25%, which actually is 20.4%. After quite a discussion he agreed to charge actual tax, 20.4%.

Thank you for your review, It helps when we sometimes get bad reviews of our place. We have made a note of all the issues mentioned, we assure you that we will surely work on them.
We do have a 5% service charge, which we very clearly mention on all our invoices and prior to check in, so we have never faced an issue about this with any of our guests, I am sorry if you were not aware of it.
As always we look forward to the return of our guests, so that we can serve them better.
