“no quite as advertised”
Reviewed 18 February 2012

I know we are at the same place reviewed many times in tripadvisor.com, but it is nothing like described. The Windsor House and The Heritage Resort are one and the same. Check-in is done for both at The Windsor. Maybe The Heritage Resort used to be a nice place. It really has the potential. The grounds have many venues that look like they used to host functions, including an outdoor ‘amphitheater’. Now just mosquitoes and the odd crow reside in them. The pools look nice, but are definitely devoid of people. Where are the guests in such a well-reviewed hotel? The proclaimed Ayurvedic Spa is a small building at the end of a long walk. I tried to check it out for my wife two separate times. The first time there was a lady who disappeared into a back room as I approached. That was the extent of life there. The second time the place was empty. I never got to talk to anyone and there were no brochures. The hotel website advertises sunset boat rides. I went to the pier and could not locate anyone to discuss options. Wireless access is advertised but was not available in our assigned room. Front Desk Management refused to do anything about the problem. After failed discussions with the desk staff another Manager was brought forward. He authorized a move to a room where the wireless worked. It is unfortunate we have 2 nights booked here. The new room in The Windsor is pleasant. The air con works and the shower is sometimes hot. There is so much that could be done with this location!

We stayed here unplanned. But we enjoyed our stay every bit of it. This is an Ayurvedic&Heritage resort, located on the front of backwaters. The cottages are awesome, built traditional style.

The garden overlooks the backwaters. The lawn is so neatly maintained that we can allow our children to play outside.

The atmosphere we were feeling there was excellent. Its calm and quiet there

The restaurant is nice. The staff were extremely friendly and were ready to help whenever we needed something. The location is a bit away from the city. We tried the ayurvedic massage and it was quite rejuvenating.

Room Tip: All rooms are lake facing

We chose The Lake Village based on our friends' recommendation. It was perfect in every way. The service is always outstanding,. The staff was so incredibly kind and thoughtful to our children
The greenery and the lake area around the cottages charm you on your first visit.... the resort is so beautifully planned ... and the rooms are very comfortable and clean...plus the service is excellent... staff is prompt and courteous. You can spend hours roaming around in the resort or enjoying the various activities like fishing , , swimming pool, ayurveda etc. You can also take in a boat ride organized by the hotel and also an early morning visit to the bird sanctuary.
Food is very tasty and I never had before such a nice food in any of the Hotels in my Kerala travel experience. The Chef is very cooperative and helpful in cooking food as per our requirement.
In summary it is a very relaxing, natural and peaceful place, which I would visit again.

This Resort was simply amazing. The location is awesome, you get out and you can walk around the waterfront. The swimming pool is in the open...its genuinely beautiful. We got a great deal for the room and didn't expect such luxury for the price we paid for it. Service was brilliant, staff is really nice and helpful, food was really good and rooms were oh so comfortable.
The lake village resort gave us a reason to want to go back to India.

Normally what u see in web site of hotels/resorts generally looks very attractive and in person the total picture changes. Our Myth was totally broken when we arrived and stayed at The Lake Village Resort kottayam in Kerala. It was more beautiful than one see on their Web Site. We were there from 8th to 12th of august 2011. Property is surrounded by back Water . It is really a paradise and stay was really like you are in GODs OWN COUNTRY. The staff of this resort is so Humble, Caring, Co-operative and nice, they really spoil you by giving the princely treatment. They are always smiling and ready for any help. The services from the entire department like Plumbers, Electrician, House keeping, Cleaning and Catering are very much on their Toes to sort out any problem or request of the quest to be fulfilled promptly...

maintenance is superb. Each and every staff are very much alert and helpful. Eg. Hammock in front of our Villa was broken and we were trying to fix it. A Lady Sweeper from maintenance dept was collecting the dry leaves etc saw us struggling to fix the hammock. With in a minute two person came besides us with the new Hammock and apologized fro the broken Hammock and changed the Hammock with the new in no time.

All the rooms are well maintained like our homes. The villas/ Rooms have ancient architectural designed exterior and interior. Rooms have unique open to sky Bathroom. Air conditions are very powerful and the bedrooms are very Big and lavish.

Food is excellent .Staff at Restaurant are very energetic and keep it very clean. Food served is best and we always wondered that why people always say that food in South is big problem? I have an answer   it that now that those who say so should come to here

I went to this place based on the reviews I read with my wife and kid. The place is very peaceful and quiet which I personally liked. Even though this is not exactly in  kumarakom, I think it should be by far the best in and around kottayam. I would really like to thank each and every one of the hotel staff for their warmth and kindless. Here are few tips for people who may plan to go to this part of kerala and are considering this hotel

1) For booking contact Mr. Ajo  from the resort. Check for the special offers that they have on the website and plan accordingly.

2) Do take the airport pickup and drop service directly from the hotel as the one from the airport (pre paid cabs)  costs almost the same.  Also once at the hotel check if you can get the lake side room, its really nice to just walk out from the room and directly get in the swimming pool and look at the lake from there.

3) As soon as you arrive, make sure that you meet with Mr.Abhilash and plan up the iteneray with him along with the transport provided. He will work out the best with the number of days available to you.

4) The boat cruise  is AWESOME. it might be one of the best in terms of facilities. The staff on the boat are really nice and helpful, so do take a half day cruise

5)Ayurveda  centers. The 2 Massages a day was haven on earth and twice a day Yoga was very helpfull also. If somebody like to take care of there health, thats the place to go.
6)The food available at the hotel  is the best available around the hotel. Try to check if there are any lunch plus dinner offer and you might take that. Try the tandoori  karimeen (pearlspot)

To summarize, my stay was really pleasant, the only thing I missed was RAINS. It must be awesome when it rains in these places :)

This was our first time at an Ayurvedic resort so we decided to book the 14 days Rejuvenation Therapy package to try it out. It was definitely worth it. The massages were close to perfect the staff and doctors are very friendly and competent. We had our own hammock in front of the cottage which was perfect to relax after the daily our treatments.
Fabulous service, excellent facilities, great pool, fabulous cottages and real ayurvedic diet food. Ayurveda treatments was very good and Authentic kerala style treatments . The landscaped gardens on the lake side are beautiful. Would recommend one day at least where you don't leave the resort.

However, if you are looking for a place to recharge your batteries than this is the place to be. We will definitely be back.
