We booked this hotel based on the Tripadvisor reviews. The property was a bit of a disappointment in terms of the location as well as the approach. The front is covered by another old property and the door is not visible. The approach is a dirt road which does not give a very good impression of the hotel. There is a pool (which you cannot use in winter). We had booked and were originally allotted the poolside rooms. These are not great and on our request, we were shifted to rooms inside. The poolside rooms have virtually no windows and are small. The overall maintenance of the hotel can be better. The good part is the owner himself - Mr Harish Sharma, who takes care of everything that you might possibly need or have a problem with. The rooftop restaurant has a great view but the food is average. Though the hotel advertises free Wi-Fi next to the pool, it was not working on the 3 days that we stayed here.

The place has a lot of potential and needs to be really refurbished for the property to move to a "excellent" category.

Room Tip: Do not choose the poolside rooms they are cold and lack ventilation. There is a large room on the first floor - which is possibly the best of the lot.

The reception staff were rude and unfriendly. More interested in listening to their iPod and reading the newspaper than offering assistance. Room was dire. No fly screens so couldn't open the window to let in fresh air. Bathroom was weird, had to step over the shower tray to get to the toilet. The hotel has a raw sewerage stream running around it so walking out at night was risky in flip flops.

This new-build hotel 5 mins walk from the entrance to the fort would be a good budget place, but at 1,500-1750 rupees a night it is disappointing and far too expensive. (We switched to an excellent heritage place inside the fort which was cheaper and better). The TripAdvisor reviews below are much too positive.
Our two rooms were average, with small windows and no views. The bathrooms were very basic and the shower didn't drain. Not that it was important, but the TV didn't work either.
The food at the rooftop restaurant was average-to-poor and the staff needed better training.
It's not a dreadful place (I live in India and have seen far far worse), but it's just not that great. On the positive side, the owner is very helpful and the smallish swimming pool is a bonus.

I recommend this hotel because it deals with most of what i was looking for while travelling with my parents in India. The owner Harish Sharma is great, don't hesitate to ask him anything he'll do anything to help (taxi service, desert tour, city tour, shopping, etc.). We stayed in the poolside rooms that are basically very calm. They are maybe a little small and stuffy but overly cosy, and very colourful in general. The service is good if a bit slow just like any other place in India but the people are helpful and present. The view from the rooftop restaurant is amazing. There is an advantage of being outside the fort and of having such a rooftop, it is the view it gives of it. The rooftop is particularly great at night, there is local music arranged as well plus ample space including a cushionned area. Thanks to all of you for the service at Royale!

Right from the booking process, I was having high expectations of this property. The owner of the property Mr.Harish Sharma takes personal interest in the well being of his guests. On reaching the property, it was like a pleasant dream. The overall decor of the property is in the regional Rajasthani style and is quite rightly colourfull. The rooms are also richly Rajasthani in decor and give an experience of a Heritage property, though this is just 3-4 years old. The Swimming pool is nicely located giving ample privacy. The attached Cake shop is a must visit for its chocolates and Apple pie etc. The roof top restaurant has a breath taking view of the fort. The dinner was a little bit dissappointing in taste. Breakfast was however quite refreshing. They also assist in arranging a desert safari at SAM sand dunes. The property has ample parking space and also provides complimentary accomodation and food to the drivers accompanying their guests. Over and all, Thanks to Mr.Sharma and his staff for making our trip a memorable event.

Room Tip: Most of the rooms on the first floor have a beautiful view of the fort.
