We booked the property several months in advance for a ski trip in February. A couple of weeks before our travel dates there was very little snow so we began to monitor the resort snow report daily. It became apparent that the weather was not cooperating so we contacted the owner. All they were willing to do was refund the cleaning fee. We asked about rescheduling for a summer vacation. I sent the request three times and the owner did not even respond. So we are out all of the money we saved for two years for a family trip and did not even make the drive. Avoid this rental.
Angel Fire is a cute little town in a valley about 30 miles east of Taos, NM. It is a great place to escape the Arizona heat since it is around 7,000 feet. The unit we stayed in was well maintained, yet it was showing signs of age. I would guess the unit was built in the late 70's or early 80's. The unit we were in was on the third floor. We are in our 70's and to say the least, it was quite a hike schlepping our bags and groceries, etc up to our unit. No elevators. There had been some updating in the unit--a 2 bedroom unit which was quite cozy and relaxing. Something that was somewhat confusing was there was a management company on the property, and we went there to get kitchen supplies. When we told them our unit number, they said-- "that is not ours", you need to go to the Dollar Store to get what you need. The unit next door to us " was one of theirs". The price was reasonable considering it was the off season. Would we go back? Yes, but requesting a ground floor.
Condo was great just didn't expect third floor. My 67 year old knees were challenged. Hiking and biking opportunities abound. Check in and out went smoothly.
Located in the Northern NM mountains and can be a base for exploring Taos, Red River, Cimarron, Philmont, Eagle Nest. A beautiful location and excellent conditions in the Resort, our Condo at SunLodge and good food at the restaurants within the Resort at Angel Fire and in the resort town.
There were 4 of us, husband, wife, 2 teenagers. 1 week, 3rd floor.

master bed squeaks
slow internet; Netflix was hit and miss
could hear voices next door very clearly

Great location for walking to lift or grabbing two minute shuttle to them right in front of condo! The condo had lots of room for the 6 of us (4 adults, 2 kids). Missed being notified of 4pm check in - we arrived early after driving all night but the owner was very generous in letting us in early (we were exhausted!) The condo itself is decently maintained, no recent upgrades, 3rd floor.
My friends said the king room was comfortable. My husband, I and kids were in the other room. It was not so comfortable - beds were HARD, pillows flat and new linens/towels are in need. WiFi was very slow/scarce (but this was pretty consistent throughout AF unfortunately). My husband reported several issues with the lighting fixtures.
Overall, it met our basic needs and was appropriate for the rate.
