Very nice fort which contain many temples which includes jain as well hindu temples. you need lots of energy to climb the fort. Also palace is situated upside of the fort. The fort is quiet long as you need full day to explore all temples. Or you can explore fort in two hours by visiting nearby temples and palaces. Rana pratap birth place is also inside the fort. You can take guide services too. Entry fee is very nominal.

First of all - go there! There is not so many tourists because the road is narrow and winding. But that's good for you!
Do not be afraid of going up - it is not very difficult and even people who are not very sporty can make it!
Hire local guide to get the all stories about the man who was killed to make the fort strong, the Hamlet-type stories of fights on rajas court, the Afghan soldiers who stayed here and all the walls and gates in the fort.
Finally - take a look in every direction to see the plains, to the 36km long walls prepared for four horses guard to ride, the old shrines, the fields and water tanks.
When you will be back in the front door - go to the Siwa Temple.

Kumbhalgarh fort is awesome, it has long boundary wall. If you are visiting in summer season, then best time to visit fort is 4:00 - 4:30 pm. Easily about 2 - 2.5 hours can be spent here.
Do not forget to buy tickets of light & sound show which starts at about 7:30 pm, the show is about 45 minutes and history of Kumbhalgarh fort is unraveled during the show.

Road to this fort is not that great so drive cafefully. Ample of parking space for car, fee Rs.20/car. Entry to fort costs Rs.15/ Indian National. Good enough places to eat and shop as soon as you enter. Pure Veg also available. Free washroom on left side of road as soon as you enter. The fort is so huge that you can not see all places on foot in one day. There are some temples on left but they are in ruins, go only if your legs have capacity. Main palace is on left side atop mountain. We opted out of any guides. Some parts of Palace atop are in ruins and others are where you can go. Do go till the top from where you can see on all 4 directions. Great winds atop. Light and sound show costs Rs.100+18%GST per person. It starts after sun sets and its pitch dark. No fix time. Varies as per Sun. Personally I loved the show. Great sitting and beautifully explained about the fort and its role in history of Mewar! Do not follow google maps while gng/cmng from Ranakpur. Ask local people.
