“An excellent place to stay”
Reviewed 26 March 2012

Aashiya Haveli is one of the very few places in India (and perhaps worldwide) where the claim on hospitality and ambience is not exaggerated by even an inch. The view from rooftop and from the lake-facing double rooms and partially lake-facing deluxe double rooms are superb. Hospitality is of a totally different magnitude since you would feel more at home than at any hotel. Food is cooked in authentic Rajasthani style and served with the hotel owner standing by you to know if you need anything more. The glorious view of the Lake Palace and the distant hills across the lake and other havelis dotting the shores of the lake is balanced by the charm of narrow winding roads leading up to the Haveli, roads with rows of handicraft stores selling some of the best antiques and paintings in Udaipur and even amongst the best in Rajasthan. Any tour you want to make within Udaipur or beyond, all you need to do is to tell Mr. Aashiya, the owner and he'll arrange everything for you.

Room Tip: If you need space in room, choose the partially lake facing deluxe double, else choose the full lake...

the best part - location proximity to boating and near jagat niwas palace ,kind attitude of owners, clean ,family room is clean but nothing extraordinary except the size
the negetive part - NO TV , NO INTERNET IN ROOM , NO REFRIGIRATOR , No regular supply of
basic needs unless u ask , hard towels ( too old ) , internet wifi does not work in ur room you have to come to the main enterance which is at times too crowded ,no proper food arrangement , lacks professional touch of accuracy , as at times u require everything to be perfect , just managed by 2 caretakers who do everything , rooftop can be maintained better , furniture at rooftop occupies more space than it should , in total this could be turned a much better place if owners put effort , which they dont ,you find not much information or help for the local advise , have to depend on others , its just like taking a lonely room in a lonely hotel there is nothing extra ordinary as found on trip advisor reviews ,in fact i have travel to so many good hospitality hotels that this seems too muc low so i feel this property is overated and those you rated it too high dont have experience of the kind we had ,children felt too boring as nothing to do ,its not a hotel should be classified as a lodge

if developed this property can be much better !bathrooms are clean yet need much improvement as sanitory and facilities need improvement ,atleast need to give a shampoo and good soap in the toilet dont u think shampoo is also a basic ,of coarse teh guest can buy a soap and shampoo themselves , then dont u think the hard towels ( maybe many yrs old ) need a replacement ? and there shoudl be an intercom ,or we have to shoult from 2nd floor or come down even ask for water ,

basic improvements is a must .Ac take longer to cool the room , i guess what will happen in summer ??????

Room Tip: cant say , all sizes are different , small room is too small , family room is big but not face the...

Basic type rooms......spacious rooms.....good A/C, clean, nice view from roof top and room, good hot water. Very pleasant gracious and helpful family.......minor note: walls need to be tidier..I pointed this out to owner.......he said they will be repainting as this is the end of the season...overall very good and good value......

Room Tip: Lake view room

after being 5 days in (bad) hotels recommended by my delhi driver i choosed this one based on tripadvisor rating. the stay was very pleasent, every wih i had was taken care about. had a nice room with partly lake view, breakfast on the rooftop was great. only minus was the laundry service (recognized to late that my blue polo had white dots coming pressumingly from some sort of chemicals used...)

This is more a home than a hotel. The owners take personal care, the home-made Rajasthani food is good, and the place is at a great location (walking distance from City Palace and market places). I positively recommend it.

I stayed in Aashiya Haveli for 3 days in February. It was a pleasant stay. It's a complete value for money place. Mr Satyadev Singh, the owner, was very kind to take out time to plan our itinerary and patiently answered all our queries (inspite of his father's operation that day). I had booked my stay through cleartrip.com. I think the breakfast was part of the tariff, because I wasn't charged for the same and it wasn't mentioned in the booking details nor was it specified by the staff there. So please clarify before. A must do is have a wonderful and simple candle-lit dinner on the terrace of the haveli. The reflection of the nearby lit up palaces and heritage structures in the placid waters of Lake Pichola and that too under a star lit sky make for a romantic evening. One thing however which put us off is a talkative staff member (don't remember his name) who was pretty rude and uncourteous at times.

Room Tip: Choose a lake facing room

We stayed at Aashiya Haveli only for one night in january, but very much enjoyed the clean rooms ad homely atmosphere. Would definetely stay again! The rooms were very cold and you should ask for extra blankets at night as there are no heaters in the rooms.
