“The Rajasthan Gem - Udaipur”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2009

Udaipur is a quaint city not to be missed by anyone deciding to travel through Rajasthan, India. The city is a beautiful mixture of enchanting 15th century Indian architecture and bustling pedestrian street markets, and a vibrant local culture. This city by no means compares to the congestion and traffic evident among Rajasthani counter-parts, such as Jodhpur and Jaipur.

Udaipur is filled with old-world charm, masterfully designed palaces, panoramic roof-top restaurants, and friendly smiling faces amid the backdrop of the Lake Picchola, It's a place what will stir wanders forever. Very romantic and perfect for couples and families.

Wish I was still there...

“Kashmir of Rajasthan”

My experience with Udaipur is amazing. I could newer imagine a place like Udaipur in Rajasthan. Lakes, gardens and fountains are beautiful. The beast place to visit in Udaipur is Nehru Garden, which is in the middle of the lake Pichhola. a cool ride on boat to the garden and pleasent atmosphere was an unforgettable experience.

Ropeway to Karni Msta temple, Dudh Talai etc. are other must see sites. The City Palace, is the best palace I have ever visited. Its really amazing.

Udaipur is a place which I recommend everybody to visit atleast once in life.

“Mesmerising Udaipur”

I went to udaipur on a school excursion. It was a week long trip , and presented an insight into the myriad shades of this city of lakes.

We started with the city palace, which is a magnificent structure in marble, full of exquisitely carved windows, marble inlays and of course, the very enchanting lake Pichola.

The next destination on the list was Saheliyon ki Bari,a garden which was specially built for the recreation of queens and princesses. Beautiful marble and stone fountains splashing cool water are a sight to behold.
Outside these tourist spots are many vendors selling souvenirs in the form of beautiful picture postcards, marble artifacts and carved wooden boxes.

Udaipur is also the heart of Rajasthani culture. So what better than a puppet show to catch a glimpse it with the kings and queens of the glorious days coming alive through the puppeteer's antics.

After spending two days sightseeing in Udaipur,we were taken to the famous handicrafts emporium where we could buy ourselves a piece of heritage, like the colourful bandhni duppatas, chunky tribal jewellery, leather goods and shining swords,a symbol of the bravery and courageous exploits of the Rajputs of Mewar.

As this part of the country has very good roads, one is not in for a bumpy ride,as is the case with other states.

Accommodation is easily available, though advance booking may be a good option,as this city is always thronged by tourists, from near and far.

The major attractions are City palace, Crystall gallery and there is a nearby place Nathdwara.Wintage car collection of Maharaja is worth to see. The saheliyon ki bari is a beautiful place to enjoy with natural beauty. Bagore ki haveli is not a good idea to go. U can see jagdish mandir if have some pleanty of time.
