Best place to stay in Coonoor!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 4, 2021via mobile
It has been 10 months since we stayed here, but we still can't stop thinking about this place!! The service they provide is truly unforgettable - right from check in, showing us around, room cleaning and most importantly - food!! Their buffet spreads were superb! The chef is very friendly and eager to serve. One of the evenings, he asked if we liked the food or if we would like something special. We told him that we loved the kebabs and would like something spicy tomorrow as well, and to our surprise he made us a separate plate of spicy kebabs. It was such a sweet and unexpected gesture! There is also very soothing live music during dinner.

Equally good is their tea-time snack time - it is set in a slightly open place - piping and unlimited hot tea/coffee/milk with hot pakodas - very very yummy! There are a lot of monkeys in the area which are especially keen to share food - just for this purpose they have a couple of guys to keep scaring them away with catapults (not hurting them of course).

The rooms are spacious and beautiful, with all the necessary facilities... there is an old world charm to the rooms, surrounded by mango trees. The whole place is built near a stream eventually building into multiple waterfalls inside the resort property... Most of our mornings, we took little hikes around the area post breakfast just sitting by the waterfall.

They also arrange for nature hikes around tbe property with a well knowledgeable guide who made these hikes very pleasant and engaging.

The property is just off the highway. While not so easy to spot on maps, the resort guys call before hand to give you the right directions, and follow through to make sure there is no hassle. It is best to have your own vehicle for reaching this place.

All in all, it is a property we will definitely come to again!
Date of stay: December 2020
Room Tip: Ask for directions from the resort wel before reaching this place.

My first visit post the lockdown . The location of the property is amazing. A little tricky to spot, but if you call them, they will guide you. There is sufficient parking space , the approach road though is very bad in condition.

This wonderful resort is located in Kurumbadi, Burliyar area (On the way to Coonoor from Coimbatore) amidst a spice plantation. A therapeutic feast for the eyes , thick dense forest with hills at a distance and pure clean look of the trees with birds, the native malabari squirrel and of course the monkeys nesting and feasting. It is dotted with numerous Spice and Fruit Trees like nutmeg and jackfruits.

Quite close to the highway so disturbance of truck horns and sometimes noisy trucks when you walk in the property or in the balcony disturbs the tranquility of the place.

The rooms / cottages are spaced out at different levels of the property. Rooms are luxurious, spacious and well stocked up. Phone signals are weak/null but wifi is available. Stayed in the Suite Room quite close to the Reception Area overlooking the Hills and the swimming pool. For rooms further away, there is a Golf Cart to ferry guests to & fro .

The property provides all meals in the package , the restaurant is managed by Mr. Martin , a very efficient person. There is a wide variety of cuisine served but taste could have been better. One of the Chef Mr. Bablu always called upon us to check if anything was required. Infact, we had a complaint with one of the food item and Mr. VASU, the GM here , promptly enquired about it and assured the corrective actions be taken. I saw Mr. Vasu actively engaging with all the guests and smoothly running the entire property. Special mention about the tea shop in the resort, the guy over there amazed us with the speed of service. Hot Bajjis to go with the Masala Chai or Coffee were delivered almost instantly.

There is a gushing stream running through the periphery of the property. We spent a happy morning lazing at the stream & waterfall. The Infinity Swimming Pool added to the great experience. There are lot of activities like spice garden, bird watching, campfire to keep you engaged. However, the SPA being non-operational was a big let-down.

Went for Spice Plantation and Bird Watching tours with the Naturalist - Mr Vishwa. His enthusiasm , subject matter expertise and narration kept us spellbound during the entire activity. Mr Vasu also obliged us with a Night buggy ride and it was quite exciting.

You may try their Souvenir Shop for Home-grown spices.

We just loved the hospitality of the entire staff, they were very humble, courteous and passionate about their work . My experience for 2 nights has been nothing short of amazing !

Room tip: Use Offline maps for navigation, all rooms come with a view.

This was marked as my last visit prior to covid 19.This property established over acres of land amidst a spice plantation in conoor on the way to Ooty.I would suggest atleast a 2 nights stay here instead of staying in Ooty. The people there truly believes in Atith Devo Bhawah. All cottages well equipped and specially decorated with home grown flowers an leaves. The up and down roads within the property leads u to the infinity pool on one side to the restaurant on the other. The kids can enjoy in the play room. The restaurant serves authentic South Indian as well as other Nationals cuisines and trust me every item that they serve are a yum.The property has a spa too.The best part of our stay was the Spice Tour in the evening which enriched our knowledge on the various spices that we consume but the plants we are unaware of.In a nutshell I must say that its a home somewhere away from the vicinity of hustle and bustle which can energize u for a new day.

A long delayed review but better late than never. We visited for two nights in December as part of a longer road trip in the Nilgiris, our first trip in nine months post lockdown. We also stayed for 2 nights in their other property Teanest.
Nestled in a thick forest amidst many tall spice & fruit trees with a backdrop of mountains, the gushing stream running through the property paints a pretty picture. Trees laden with ripe nutmeg, jackfruits of all sizes, figs, durians etc. all add to the charm. The cottages are on various levels & set far apart in the foliage to ensure full privacy. Our cottage had a spectacular view, a view that many members of the staff told us was the best in the property. We were offered an extremely spacious suite which we turned down in favour of our sunny balcony with the stunning view !
The cottage itselfwas well appointed & brightly done up with a lovely bathroom which too had a great view from the tub. There was even a hammock strung between two big trees down our path to the cottage.
There is a buggy servive to ferry guests to & fro but being very fit people we didnt require its services. We just walked everywhere. Taking an evening walk with their naturalist we learnt quite a bit about various spices & their origins & an early morning birding walk yielded a variety of pretty birds & the Indian Giant squirrel with a long bushy tail. We spent a happy morning lazing at the stream & waterfall.
The ever smiling & courteous staff were all very attentive & their GM Mr. Vasu extremely heplful & kind.
This is the perfect place to unwind & recharge !

Stayed in the property , end of January 2021 for 3 nights
An excellent must visit resort in the midst of a forest around 15 kms from Coonoor The rooms / cottages are spaced out at different levels of the property, the best ones are the furthest from the reception and restaurant , room no 112 and 114 , the rooms are next to a gushing stream and waterfall , the balconies face the waterfall and is one of the most beautiful sights I have ever seen
The cons are THT since the property rooms is at different levels , the walk to the restaurant is killing to the back and legs , though there is an efficient buggy service driven by young smiling young man Adrian available at a call , but since there is only one available , the wait for buggy sometimes is more than 10 minutes
Another con is that at night , i didn’t notice any security patrolling the area especially near the furthest rooms , though the area is fenced , and only visitors are crickets and other insects
The hotel provides all meals , in the package , the restaurant is managed by
Martin , a Very efficient smiling manager who is very very helpful and never says no to any requests, As we had to check out at the hotel early morning he graciously packed breakfast for us
not only him each of the staff member is ready to serve with a smile
The hotel has a play area / club has a badminton table tennis carrom and snooker and a good infinity swimming pools
The children are kept busy throughout the day with various activities like nature walks , jungle gym activities
god willing Will like to visit this resort again
