Booking with Amin was a great experience, because he was so quick to respond to all of my questions. This made it easy to put together a package of what I needed for my short time in Delhi. I booked an airport pickup, Agra day trip by train and a Delhi city tour. It was very convenient to pay for the package via PayPal, so I didn't have to carry a wad of cash to pay him.
Airport pickup went smoothly. My driver Ramu was excellent - very friendly, decent English, safe and skilled with Indian traffic. (A rare combo for a driver in India).
The Agra day trip by train could not have gone better. It's a very long day, but if you want a bit of Indian railroad experience, it's worth it - the train stations alone are quite the site for western eyes. The train also ensures you arrive in Agra as early as possible to get to the Taj before most of the crowds. The tour includes 2AC class, which is comfortable for the 2 hour trip. If you want more space and a quieter cabin, a small supplement for 1AC is worth it. You get meals in both directions, which are what you might expect of a meal on a train... I'd advise packing some snacks if you're a picky eater or not big on Indian food.
At the Agra train station, after making my way through the hordes of taxi touts to the exit, it was nice to see a sign with my name on it. I had Adnan Shaikh as my guide, and he was fantastic - great company for what could have been a boring solo trip. Besides explaining all of the sites very well, he took some great photos of me at each of the sites - much appreciated! Our driver Raj was also excellent - very safely drove the Toyota Innova around Agra.
As is standard on all Indian tours, they'll bring you to two shops - a marble inlay shop and a craft shop. Even the nicest Indian shop keepers come across as very aggressive to westerners. If you don't want to buy, politely thank them and walk out. If you do want to buy, bargain hard!
A greatly appreciated aspect of Amin's Agra tour was that the price included ALL costs except tips. This made it much easier to know how much cash to bring, knowing that there wouldn't be other 'extra' cost surprises which are usual on tours in India.
As expected, I had 2 or so hours to kill in Agra before the return train to Delhi. If this bothers you, do the car trip instead. Amin was very accommodating letting me hang out in his office and use his wifi - other travellers opted for a nearby pizza or coffee shop. One of his other guides Faizan accompanied a group of us back to the train station to make sure we got onto the train ok - very nice guy. My train arrived on time back in Delhi shortly after 11pm. It was a long, but fantastic day. 5/5 stars for the Agra tour!
Next day was my Delhi tour.. I had barely stepped out of my hotel room, when my guide (forgot the name), greeted me as 'your guide'. That was a surprise, as I was expecting to meet him outside, but we got on ok after that - the rickshaw ride through Old Delhi was the highlight of the day. Unlike the Agra tour, this one did not include site fees, though the lower tour cost reflected this. 2000 rupees should be enough to cover all possible fees and lunch. Ramu again did an excellent job as driver. It was more of a half-day tour tour, as my guide said we'd covered the main sites by around 1pm, so I had an extra hour to kill at the airport before my early evening flight. This was a decent tour, but not on the same level as the Agra tour (this is an Agra company) - I give it 3/5 stars.
This company is working exceptionally hard to satisfy their customers, and improve based on feedback, so I have no doubt their offerings will only get better. This was my 5th time in India, but I would especially recommend this company for 1st time visitors.
