“Amazing Heritage Site”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2012

definitely a must do on the list when travelling to Agra. The true historical significance of the site can best be appreciated if one has either read up on it before hand or with the help of an approved guide who can give the historical significance and details of the various monuments on this site. This time I visited the Agra Fort, I was lucky enough to see the Sheesh Mahal in Agra Fort which was simply magical.......

“Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 April 2012

Nice to see something preserved to a high quality in India.

When i visited there were several crews of workers conductiung repairs, and others painting.

Although 85% of the fort complex is now controlled by the Army, what you are allowed to see as a tourist is a great snapshot of times gone past for India.

Try and go either early or late in the day, as the smell of raw sewerage in the heat of the day is quite unpleasant. The main sewerage line from Agra to the river runs under the entrance to the fort.

We visited this historically important monuments, on 4th April, 2o12. This was part of itinerary of our Allahabad, Bodhgaya, Varanasi, Gaya, Ram janmabhumi, trip. They are well preserved, and take back the visitor to the 15th century...Very interesting...

“Great views of the Taj”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2012

Agra Fort is fairly close to the Taj Mahal, and it was neat to see the beauty and imagine the opulence of the old empire. Obviously, the Fort is not as atheistically pleasing as the Taj Mahal; however, the history is more incredible.

It's definitely worth the stop. Hire a tour guide.
