Got there shortly after sunset. Easy to get a table. The bbqed red snapper and shrimps are very nice. All with relatively fair prices.

Thank Andreas J

Jimbaran is packed with seafood restaurants and your taxi driver might tell you that the prices are all the same or that there is one he can particularly recommend. He is wrong (most of the time).

We learnt this the hard way after being dropped off at another seafood restaurant, balking at the high prices and appalling internet reviews and having to frantically look for another place. Roman Cafe was the only one close to us which had good reviews so we put our faith in TA and proceeded.

And thank god we made that switch. While they could definitely do with stronger lighting/candles, the rest of the meal was excellent. The prices for the set packages were nearly half that of the previous place we'd visited and our waiter didn't try to upsell anything to us. In fact, he advised us that half a kilo of crab would be enough between the two of us when we were about to order a whole kilo. The seafood was very fresh and the accompanying sauces delicious. Everything was seasoned beautifully too.

If you don't want to miss out on the Jimbaran experience of eating on the beach, I'd highly recommend this place especially if you want to avoid the other tourist traps.

Have no idea, why this restaurant has such a high rate in TA and mentioned in lonely planet guide. Perhaps others warungs in Jimbaran are worse, but we didn't check. The food is very plane, taste of clams and squid was ruined by quantity if spices, prawns were tasteless. Only fish was not bad.

I'm so glad we chose here. The food was exceptional and we got to see the sunset (unusual for wet season). Big tiger prawns and juicy whole fish were the highlights. Staff were very accommodating by putting us at a waterfront table. Reasonable prices too for Jimbaren. The only downfall was the bathroom. It was disgusting to say the least. Overall, we'd come back to Roman cafe and recommend it to others.
