I went here with my boyfriend in June 2011 and we were very disappointed to get off our long flight to not find the airport transfer waiting for us.. we had to call the hotel and try and arrange for him to come out.. we ended up waiting nearly an hour until he finally arrived.
When we got to the hotel we were extremely disappointed with the room.. the bathroom sink was in the hallway, and there was cigarette butts and some really yukky looking stains in the bathtub. We were really flat after all our excitement!
In the morning we went for breakfast which was not very appealing, and just had some toast. We decided to have a walk around kuta and see if there were any other available rooms as we did not want to stay there a minute longer. We ended up getting a room at the Kuta Puri which was same price, and a beautiful place to stay.
I would not recommend this hotel to couples or families! Maybe, young people just looking for a very simple place to stay as the location is great for nightclubs etc..
The pool area did look really nice, but was not enough to make us stay. We checked out after one night.

This hotel has a nice pool and that was the saving feature for us. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Great service!! Our room was old and dirty and the bedding could have been nicer. New pillows would be a nice addition!

while i would only class the bathroom as 1* the room was large and outlook to beautiful gardens and pool area was great. The best part which i am sure many do not realise is there is that up the back of hotel and out to lane is another world. The little village shows how things were once.I loved to go out there t o shop.

Room Tip: get a de-luxe room out the back on ground floor.Has little verandah and lovely grounds. If travelling...

Very very disappointed room dirty bed linen & towels dirty grey, would have one time been white. I had problems with my wallet been stolen and night staff was more interested in sleeping than helping me. The management clearly don't understand customer service as they more interested in backing staff than assisting me. Breakfast was discusting, we tried it twice then gave up & went else were. The swim up pool was the only thing that was ok about the place. Most staff ok other than front desk at night & management. We have stayed in a number of places all over Bali & surrounding islands & have never encountered accommodation as bad as this. I know you can find far more clean & comfortable accommodation at around the same price.

This was the first hotel after arriving in Bali. We were picked up at the airport by a very friendly and helpful driver. On the way to the hotel he pointed out many things and places that indeed did become useful. Upon checkin, the initial room we booked was disappointing, but this was our own doing, so we asked to upgrade. Not a problem at all. The room we were given was great. Yes a little dated, but comfortable, very spacious and served all purposes required. We were on the top floor over looking the pool. As many may know Jl Legian is chaotic even at it's quietest. Once at the back of Matahari, you were a whole world away. The room was quiet, cleaned everyday and the whole week we stayed, we had to ask for nothing. We didn't find the street hawkers a problem, as long as you show them respect and are pleasant, they will get to know you and leave you alone. Many times during our stay, the 'driver' who picked us up from the airport became our personal 'traffic cop' and stopped traffic for us to get across to Circle K. Yes, the service here was fantastic. Great pool with swim up bar always staffed. Breakfast was good enough. We had dinner here once and it was delightful. Every other night we pretty much sourced back street warungs for traditional homestyle meals. I love the gardens as they are overgrown with lots of bougainvillea and many other exotic plants. Manicured, no, but stunning. Just watch out for the little frogs at night if you go for a late night stroll.
Overall, budget, comfortable, clean, friendly and extremely well located if staying in Legian.

Room Tip: Ask for Deluxe overlooking pool. Much quieter.

This hotel is unspectacular, but has good value and a good location (if the craziness of Kuta is what you're after).

Its best aspect is the pool, which is beautiful and has a swim-up bar.

The grounds themselves are pretty and set back away from the main street, providing much needed peace and respite from the choas outside. The rooms have air conditioning, if little else.

The complimentary breakfast is subpar -- you get what you pay for. The restaurant itself has average food but is well-priced and has convenient, 24-hour room service.

Basically you stay here because you want to be in the middle of the action in Kuta -- haggling all day with shopkeepers and partying all night with drunken Australians. 15 minute walk to Kuta beach through the shops on Poppies alley. An infinity or bars and restaurants all around.

I didn't mind this place. my room was clean, the pool and pool bar were good, and for a basic kind of hotel, and price to match, it was fine. the location is supurb. the breakfast was ok, and the staff were friendly. the aircon worked, the fridge worked, i got fresh towels daily. so all in all, it wwas fine.
