Description: At Fortune Cookie Restaurant we offer a unique experience of San Francisco style Chinese cuisine in Bali. We believe in fresh & healthy Chinese food with no MSG. All our dishes are prepared fresh - made to order. We use Organic vegetables as much as possible, we serve Australian beef and our chicken is all breast fillet. Our famous 'potsticker' dumplings are handmade to order.. You won't find any frozen dumplings here! We pride ourselves on having the freshest ingredients, healthy recipes and fast delivery service. Please enjoy!

Really enjoyable meal. Great chicken potstickers, chilli prawns (good size and not overcooked), Szechwan chicken was delicious. Restaurant is tucked away and not in a busy tourist part of Sanur. Always a pleasure to eat here. They also do takeaway and home/hotel delivery.

Very relaxed atmosphere, and staff friendly. Food was excellent and at the appropriate time the dishes were served. Never rushed us.

So our trip to Bali has been underwhelming to say the least. All the food we have had has been a pitiful attempt at Western food. Simply disappointed at the options of hotel food since getting here 4 days ago. Our family decided to take the opportunity to visit this restaurant and we're not disappointed. Our experience was excellent from the first minute till the last. Food was amazing!! Dumplings, spring rolls, crispy chicken, chowmein, fried rice, sweet and sour pork were all exceptional. Definitely going back again. Trying to fit in another trip here before we head back to New Zealand on Sunday.

So dinner tonight. We decided Chinese would be nice and after reading trip advisor reviews decided to give the Fortune Cookie a go. Nice ambiance. Two ladies were very nice. We started with spring rolls - very nice. We went to mains ordering four dishes with steak/beef. Beef and black bean & 3x mongolian beef. Fair to say the meat was inedible. We couldn't eat it. It was so chewy. We were not charged which was a plus but wouldn't return to this restaurant. There are too many other restaurants around to choose from to consider returning.

I believe either through change in, or absence of, management the cuisine has deteriorated. Three years ago we ate here, had a fine meal, and conversed with a knowledgeable, interested manager. Last night, we had excellent, responsive, friendly service.

But every dish was off, though let me qualify that nothing was so bad that we didn't finish it all. The big problem is sugar; they now add it to almost everything. Hot & Sour soup became hot, sour, and sweet: ruined a fine soup. Kung Pao chicken had so much sugar added, I'd almost prefer them to go back to MSG if this is the substitute. The beef with mushrooms had extremely tough meat; each piece literally took half a minute to chew. It was almost like jerky. Both main entrees were swimming in a thick, goopy corn-starch, soy-bean (I think) oil sauce. (Again, as balance, the size of, & quantity of meat within, each dish, was very good.)

Even the fortune cookies were sweeter than normal. My hunt for the elusive excellent Chinese restaurant continues.
