“A quiet intimate oasis”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

We stayed in a bungalow suite and it was great. Very spacious, with a patio for private relaxation. All the rooms surround the pool and lush garden. The owners (Belgian) are around to make sure that all is working well. The staff seem very happy and interact like one big family. After the hectic month of travelling through SE Asia, this intimate hotel was perfect. Steps away from the pool, restaurant and front desk. Food in the restaurant was very good and well-priced. The only reason we gave it a 4 instead of a 5 was the fact that the hotel is across the street from the ocean and you need to go through one of the waterfront hotel grounds to get to the beach.

Room Tip: Pay the extra fee to get a bungalow.

Stayed here for 3 nights in a bungalow suite as a base to do some diving. The room was large and clean with a decent selection of TV channels, wireless broadband and a well stocked mini bar. The pool, garden and bar/resteraunt areas are beautifully kept, an ideal to place lay in the sun for a couple of hours or have a quiet beer. The food in the resteraunt was very good and reasonably priced, The hotel is also very close to a number of decent resteraunts and bars along the main Sanur strip. It is not the most modern hotel but is very well looked after with plenty of friendly and helpful staff. I would recommend it for couples looking for a relaxing break in Sanur.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms all have a small patio area overlooking the pool and gardens

Just left the Tamukami hotel after spending 5 nights there. What a lovely hotel!

The hotel is currently rated #3 hotel in Sanur. Sure, it's not a #3 hotel based on facilities like you would find in luxury hotels. Rather, it is a fairly standard tourist hotel with a fine pool, restaurant, bar, massage etc. Neither is the hotel particular new. It is around 15 years old (but very well kept). The rooms are spacious, though not in any way spectacular in decoration.

There are lots of nice places to eat and drink near the hotel, but you could say that about most of the hotels along the Jalan Tambligan.

Where the hotel shines is in terms of ambience, hospitality and that at a very fair price. What you get is a place where you can unwind in tranquil surroundings, greeted by a friendly staff away from the hustle and bustle of Jalan Tambligan and the rest of south Bali.

My only minor complaints would be, that the (free) wifi did work very well inside the room (unless I was near the window). The drinks prices also seemed steep, even for a hotel.

But apart from this I cannot fault the hotel. So the Tamukami get my warmest recommendations.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms at ground floor near the pool seems very spacious. Rooms at the far end of the pool...

We stayed for a long weekend, which just happened to coincide with Nyepi, meaning everybody was restricted to their hotel. The staff were quick to put out extra pool beds, so everybody had a good spot. The hotel is small, and set around the larger tropical pool area. But the rooms are very spacious, and extremely clean. Yes the bathrooms may be aesthetically dated, but they are still clean with good water pressure in the shower. The food was tasty, well presented and good value. If you are looking for a place to party like a rocks star, this isn't for you. But for a relaxing, conviently located base, this hotel can't be faulted.

We have just arrived home after spending 5 nights at the Tamukami. We chose this hotel based on the comments in Trip Advisor and were more than pleased to find it exceeded our expectations. We had a room upstairs overlooking the pool. It was very spacious, cleanand quiet. The weather was very rainy but we still spent many a day swimming and sitting by the pool with the large pool umbrella's giving very good protection from the rain. We found the Staff and Managers very willing to do all to make our stay a happy one. It was also nice to stay at a hotel with a good restuarant which meant we could enjoy a good meal when we did not want to wandering the streets. Breakfast was hot and all freshly prepared for us! That beats food left in warmers any day in my opinion! All up this is my 8th trip to Bali and I have stayed in many different hotels, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good smaller hotel were they give you personalised service at a reasonable price.

We visited this hotel in July '11 and thought it was excellent. The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms well appointed and clean.
Yes, the furniture is wooden but is not that in keeping with the culture and charm of Bali. If you want sanitised chrome, visit a hospital!
The property is beautifully maintained and the staff could not be more helpful and professional.
A great place to stay - you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask the staff. They are only too willing to assist with any inquiry.

Very pleasant stay at Tamukami. Room was perfectly clean, well-designed and nicely decorated. Staff members were friendly to chat to and helpful when we had special requests. Good price.

However, I do worry about the way the Western owners treat staff members there. I'd stay there again if the owners gave staff better pay and leave conditions.
