My wife and I stayed in Puri Gangga in January 2016. We met up with a couple of friends from the UK who emigrated to Australia several years ago.
The hotel is quite a drive from Denpasar airport (90 minutes), but was worth the journey. It's located in a quiet rural area of Bali, about 30 minutes drive north of Ubud. It's quite a small hotel (only 20 rooms) with one central restaurant and bar, and an infinity pool.
Our room was clean with a large comfortable bed surrounded by a mosquito net, and a nice bath/shower room. It also had a private balcony which was a nice place to have a drink watching the sun set.
The restaurant served consistently good food during both the a la carte breakfast service, the afternoon tea (included in the price) and the evening service.
The hotel ran 4 free return shuttle buses to Ubud a day, the 1st departing at 09.00 and the last returning at 21.30. We used the bus several times during the day to visit Ubud and in the evening to try a few different restaurants.
But what made the hotel such a great experience was the friendliness and attentiveness of the. Because the hotel was quite small, staff tended to know all the guests. Plus they mixed their duties so, for example, Emma, who ran the 08.00 yoga club, also acted as the general services supervisor.
I would thoroughly recommend the Puri Ganggha for anyone who wants to simply relax and get away from it all in a small hotel with attentive staff.
But if you want a beach holiday or one where there's plenty of excursions and things to do, this probably isn't for you.
Also, just be aware that the hotel is, effectively, built in a forest with paddy fields and trees all around. It's therefore likely that you'll come across some insects and other bugs, in your room as well as outside, so if you're squeamish, you may be better off elsewhere.

This hotel was our first stop on a week vacation at Bali. I'm glad we stopped here first before seeing the rest of Bali. The location is among the Balinese people and not surrounded by millions of tourist, like Ubud, which is 30 mins away. The hotel does offer a free shuttle to the city of Ubud. If you walk outside the hotel and wander around the village of Sebatu, you can experience a bit of Bali. The hotel was a lovely property. We stayed at the pool villa which felt romantic and private. All of the staff was kind and very attentive. Everything about Puri Gangga was great! Thanks for the wonderful hospitality and experience!!

What a gem we have discovered. Great facilities. We were in a basic room which was great with a little balcony and fish pond. Bathrooms great and beds very comfortable. Breakfasts divine and varied. Afternoon teas delectable! ( thanks Mega and other staff) Shuttle bus fabulous and very reliable. Pool area just superb. But the best part was the lovely friendly, warm and kind staff. Every time we arrived back from Ubud it felt like we were home. Loved the yoga and canang lessons - thanks Erma. We will be back!

We had just come from the Gili Islands and needed to get back to mainland Bali so we could catch our flight the next day. We had previously stayed at the sister resort (Puri Sebali - fantastic!) and we weren't disappointed with Puri Gangga!
We arrived late (around 8:30pm) and the staff warmly greeted us with welcome drinks and immediate service. My husband was very hungry and the staff was kind enough to take a room service order while i finished checking us in. The staff even offered to help us with our transportation to the airport the next morning. Only a few minutes later, we were escorted to our room and our room service order was there! The food was great and the staff was so attentive. We literally only had a few hours there - to check in, sleep, and check out. We ate the food on the balcony and the bath/shower and room was gorgeous - very comfortable and we had a great, restful night before our long flight the next day. We woke up and again had room service. It arrived quickly and they even called to help us with our luggage. On our departure, the front desk agent gave us two parting gifts - decorative cat holders. It was so sweet and she said she wanted us to enjoy our stay and hope it was memorable despite only being there a few hours. It was such a kind gesture and really made us thankful at how attentive and caring the staff was! The hotel staff even drove us to the airport in the hotel car so we could catch our flight. The driver was safe, attentive and very professional. The staff truly made it a great experience for us! Thank you!

I cannot recommend Puri Gangga highly enough. The place is a paradise; about a 30minute drive out of Ubud and in the lush , green surroundings of the countryside. The pool has a spectacular view of the hills.
The staff are really the real magic makers of the stay here, supremely accommodating and really fun to be around - they have a great repertoire amongst themselves.
The food is outstanding too!
Without a doubt one of the nicest places I've ever stayed.
