The hotel's grounds are idyllic, with lush vegetation, a rice paddy and one of Ubud's best museums (to which you get free entrance as a guest). In the morning you can see and hear all sorts of birds on the grounds, and during the day you can observe balinese ceremoniously depositing their offerings throughout the grounds (including in the small temple located next to our villa). At night the hotel has balinese troups performing traditional dances, some performance are free, others come at a fee (75,000 rps). Good location within walking distance from the Monkey's forest.

We were upgraded to the Deluxe villa (not sure why but won't complain!), which has its own (small) pool and a nice seating area, you can get breakfast served there for no additional charge, very pleasant. Room is spacious, nicely decorated, with an outdoor bathroom, which means you might encounter some small creatures there, but nothing life-threatening :). The room was perfectly well-maintained, so our stay was not marred by some of the issues faced by some of the other reviewers

The only let-down is the relatively limited breakfast choice (that being said we faced the same issue in most hotels in Bali), noisy airco, poor wifi reception (at least in our villa) and average restaurants in the villa, but this should not deter you from spending some night in this magical place.

When you land at Denpasar airport, especially from Singapore as we did, you are initially disappointed by the chaos, try and avoid landing after dark, it is a long drive to Ubud where we stayed for four days. The Arma resort is a vast estate comprising both villas and rooms. We had a villa with a small swimming pool. The aesthetics of the place takes your breath away, the small touches, the way the bed is made, the artefacts in the room et al. Even to reach the dining room or the lounge you need to walk a lot that too on uneven territory, Ubud does not offer much except the incredible shopping for paintings, wood carvings, batiks etc. we took day trips to nearby places famous for different craft Mas ( woodwork) Batwan ( painting) Chiluk ( gold jewellery) Batu Bulan ( batik) you are at loss what not to buy...but ultimately everything is cheaper in Ubud town, though the artefacts may not be as good as the originals.
The hotel staff is extremely courteous and food though it lacks variety, not too bad. If you are looking for a countryside atmosphere , a pond with swans , coconut and palm trees, gurgling brooks, creepy crawlies that don't bother you, I would say go for Ubud and Arma.

Room Tip: If you do not wish to trudge up and down to get to your room / villa several times a day, ask for a place closer to the entrance/lounge/restaurant. Also this is no place for people looking for night life. A great place to take kids, but they must be supervised, there are too many water bodies and the terrain is full of ups and downs.

The grounds of this hotel are delightful and the rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. The food was excellent for breakfast and at the Thai restaurant. The other restaurant is ok.
The museum is a delight as are the other buildings on this diverse site. We did not find it expensive but as it offers a free shuttle service you can easily eat and drink elsewhere. The pool is relatively small and lacks sunbeds.

I checked out hotels a lot in tripadvisor but I don't usually write a review, but I feel that I had to share my wonderful experience after seeing so much people complaining about this hotel. Arma is really a beautiful, peaceful place to stay and unwind.

The resort is quite expansive and packed with culture. It has its own museum, 2 restaurants, 1 coffee shops, and when I was there they just opened a spa with 50% discount for opening special (unfortunately we didn't got to try the spa as they were fully booked). Every night they are having Balinese performances/dances performed by different village groups, some of them even free!

The superior room that every other reviewers was complaining about, was truly beautiful and modern, with huge comfortable bed, huge shower head, and five-star amenities. Its definitely a value of money.

The service is very typical Balinese, every staffs always smile and eager to help, they even packed us breakfast box free of charge at 2am in the morning when we told them we were booked for sunrise mountain trekking.

We also met the founder/owner of the hotel/museum. He is so down to earth and very passionate about preserving Balinese arts and way of life.

Would love to stay more than 2 night next time and also try their villas.. this place is truly special and best place to base while you are in Ubud. Very recommended for everyone to give it a try...

I found this resort some person's private website and she recommended this hotel since so much silent.
The location is near the monkey street so you can reach quickly the road and it is very close to the famous restaurant.
And all kind of room have the own place to sit and relax.
There is small swimming pool for all and it is surrounded by forest. So the air is really fresh and most of all you always enjoy the appreciating the museum (Arma) free if you stay the hotel.
The restaurant in the resort is average status, so i want to recommend to have breakfast, lunch or dinner near the hotel.
You could served afternoon tea every afternoon from 4pm to 7pm.
I think this hotel is very good if you want to separated to many people and enjoy yourself.
