I was visiting bandung after my trip to jogja and compare both hotel : Amaris Yogya and Bandung. Amaris yogya offered better experience than Amaris bandung. This hotel is newly furbished but still have old building aura ini it. Smaller room compares Yogya but very well located in Cihampelas road. Good alternative for shopping-freak out there

Amaris at Cihampelas is a very pleasant simple hotel.
They are strategically located on Jln Cihampelas and has a modern design. Great for the budget traveler going to Bandung for shopping as it is located right in the middle of one of the main shopping streets in Bandung, close to the designed Ciwalk mall.

I been to Amaris Hotel Cihampelas on peak seasons (school holiday in Indonesia) so it is fully booked, I stayed for 3 nights. It is VERY CHEAP hotel but the room is very small, the view from my room window is WORST, the breakfast is very bad everyday is the same and only few choices. The swimming pool is NOT a swimming pool.. but it is just a pool and it is good for koi (fish) to swim...

The ONLY good is the location, walking distance to Cihampelas street/walk (shopping).

We flew KLM to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta arrived in the evening and drove all the way to
Bandung using the Jakarta-Bandung Highway and arrived at Amaris Hotel very late indeed. But the Front Desk was most helpful to receive us as we booked thru' the Internet. However there were no Twin Beds and we made do with a Double. Upon reflection we realized it is a modern coy & chic hotel with post-modern paintings and minimalist attitude in the lobby.

My fellow Traveler used to study at ITB, Bandung and reminded us Bandung is a artist paradise. It is home to the bon vivant and artistes communities. The climate and ambience are to be blame.

Anyway, the room too is minimalist and coy and chic. No bath tub which is unnecessary in tropical climates and a powerful shower indeed there is. Cupboard and drawers are no where to be found except for open space hanging rail compartment of sort. Surprisingly, a Safe-box sits in the corner of the compartment. A LCD TV hangs facing the double bed in a smallish size room. Just a towel and minimal toiletries are offered.

Then, it dawn on me to call the Front Desk to ask for a Twin room but Amaris Hotel seems to be a popular choice for tourists and it was full for the night. Nevertheless, tired from the 3 hours driving as we are we slept throughout the night in a room with 2 golf bags and luggage.

Breakfast is served buffet style with an Egg Station which already prepared omelette. The rest of the fare is typical Indonesian Rice Porridge and assortment of local dishes of chicken, vegetables and the Western bread , butter and jams. Eat we did and more than usual to prepare for the grueling 4 to 5 hours of a dreadful golf at the notorious Mountain View Golf Resort not a distance away at Dago Pakar.

We simply check out as everything has been pre-paid via internet without any hassle from the Front Desk. Even though we are to stay for 2 nights in Bandung we have originally planned to stay in another Hotel for the next night to ease our departure from the busy and congested roads.

In any rate, we say, this Amaris Hotel is meant for young couples touring famous Bandung Factory Outlets rather than for 4 intrepid senior golfers.

BTW upon coming out from the hotel building we could see the modern front facade which depicts
a modern multi-colour paint on her walls.

Room Tip: There is no swimming pool.

Earlier i was quite worried to stay in Amaris Cihampelas due to numerous negative feedback on this hotel but since the room was so cheap, i've decided to put my worries aside. When i checked in, the room was not that bad after all. The room was clean and it has all the basic necessities such as water bottles, tooth brush, towel, shampoo and shower gel. And it's walking distance to Ci-Walk which takes about 5-10 mins to reach. But they seriously need to improve on the breakfast menu. Very limited choices.
