Junior Suite room is very spacious. Check in and check out was really quick. They also provide you with wide spread of breakfast choices. Staff was really welcoming and helpful. It's also centrally located hotel, which makes you could easily reach various destination.

During our stay, we asked them to fix antena connection for cable tv, so that we could have clearer image on watching it. However, they were to lazy to change the cable and only said that it happens oftenly for some television channel, and it's not their mistake but tv operator. Later on, we bought scotch tape and manage to bend the cable a bit which gave us clearer image on tv. So, it shows their low standard of maintenance. Watter pressure for shower at the 3rd floor is not good either, very weak.

Room Tip: Room which facing to Jalan Asia Africa is noisy due to road traffic. But, it provides you with a ver...

Bandung is second only to Florida in housing some of the most important Tropical Art Deco buildings in the world. Please research this before visiting if you like architecture.

The Grand Preanger is more polished than the Homann, and retains its deco charm, but the Homann has the edge in terms of historical importance. Visit the Asia Afrika museum across the road to see the part the Homann played.

The food here is mediocre, and the staff are very sweet, but occasionally a little limited. The hotel was undergoing renovation at the time of this review.

The dining hall is something special.

The preanger has the edge for polish, quality, and comfort, but if you are an architecture fan, the Homann is the pick of the two.

We had a short, two-night stay in January 2012. Saw a cheap fare through Agoda and jumped at the chance to stay in a local landmark - around $60/night AUD.

Evidently the bargain fares at the moment are because of the renovations taking place at the front of the hotel (this was not noisy), and the rooms, which are looking a little worse for wear.

Nonetheless, all the facilities you would expect of a major hotel are present - the shower had good water pressure, and the included breakfast was decent. We also had a mini bar, gym, loads of satellite channels, etc.

Location-wise, it is handy for the large shopping centre around the alun-alun and Jl. Braga, with restaurants and bars. We had a free lift back to the train station with their friendly staff.

We had a pretty pleasant stay, but the hotel was showing its age - although the exterior is impressive, successive renovations inside have not reflected this.

This must be a very nice and glamorous venue back in the old days. Still proudly promoting an elegant european design and placed strategically near the colonial building block, now it is hardly catching up with the comfort of latest 3 star boutique hotels. Everything were slightly below standard, from the pillow puffiness to bathroom cleanlines. However, we find the staffs were very helpfull and friendly, that kind of straightening all the tension. But we surely will explore other accomodation alternatives that is more likely match with the price next time.

Room Tip: Try to book the legendary suite

Picture this. You're sleeping in a room where Soekarno or Nehru slept. Or if you don't know them (gosh!), perhaps Nelson Mandela ring a bell. Yes, this is one of the hotel where Leaders of Asian-African nations in '50s and '90s slept. It's architecture consider one of the art-deco masterpiece. But, that's it. That's what this hotel is offering. Not more or less. I consider everything to be just OK (perhaps that's why they keep this hotel as a 4 star hotel!).
Btw, this hotel located about 50meters from Bandung's 0 km. So it's literally in the center of the town.

Room Tip: If you travel with the whole family, ask for Homann Suites & the suites connecting to it.

I am always intrigued by the negative reviews of this land mark hotel , these people must be staying at a different hotel , as i always find the savoy homann to be exceptional in all areas , the rooms and suites are well presented and maintained with a beautifull atmosphere , the dineing and buffett breakfast area is gorgeous as is the service and food quality . this hotel has style and history laid on at very reasonale prices , do not hesitate in booking this very comfortable and historic hotel .

Every year, when we are in Bandung, we stay at the Savoy Homann´s, due to our colonial heritage. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and lavish breakfast in the wintergarden. The junior suites are spacious, but don´t take the roadside ones for the noise and the early morning sun. The location becomes awkward, as the colonial centre is falling to pieces. Got to be time that the Dutch Government pays some respect to its heritage and starts helping to redevelop this area.
Unfortunately, the internet is not up to standard. No connection in the rooms and terribly slow in the lobby and bar. One has to find out the best place in the hotel for a connection (Batavia bar, at the opposite end of the bar).
The meals are below standard with a limited selection. Go to Raja Rasa in Bandung, absolutely excellent, very reasonably priced and worth the trip.
The way of making the beds, with too short a bedcover in between the sheets, makes you do it all over by yourselves. Probably this was the last time we stayed here.

Room Tip: take a junior suite, but not at the street side. Stay in the old wing
