We stayed one night in this Toyoko Inn, this is the same as all the Toyoko Inn: Clean, free Internet, free (and this time big) breakfast.

Bed quality is also very good and you can have a nice view from the city.
The only inconvenient is that this is a bit far from the train station, it took us nearly 50 minutes by subway and we almost missed the train.

I was in Daejeon for a business trip. I had been there several times previously, so I was somewhat familiar with the local hotel scene. I would normally stay in the Yuseong-gu area. But, I found the Toyoko Inn on a website search when the other hotels in the Yuseong were either booked, or did not have a room at a US government rate. We stayed two nights, and I was pleased by the quality, and cleanliness of the room. The rooms were small, but this is common in Asian countries. Breakfast was included and a much better buffet selection than I have found in US based chain hotels. The price of the room was so inexpensive compared to other hotels in the area I would definitely go back. We also learned that the express bus back to Seoul has a pickup spot only a block and half away from the hotel. We found plenty of local restaurants within walking distance. A House Depot department store was within walking distance and had both foodstuff and everything else expected in a large department store.

Toyoko-Inn is one of a chain of such inns in the style we have found at inns in Japan. We found this inn to be sparkling clean, with good room-controlled air conditioning, comfortable beds and helpful staff. The rooms are small, but functional and the in-room facilities are very well laid out. Whoever designed the room paid close attention to detail. For example, there is a clothes line across the tub-shower stall in case you want to do laundry. There is a small refrigerator. There is a mirror that heats in the middle section so the condensation from a shower does not form at all. The toilet is a modern electronic marvel. etc. The rooms are quiet and the quiet fan on the air conditioner runs if the unit is on, independent of whether the cooling is active, which means that the sound is completely continuous. That is a great feature is you are a light sleeper. For two people in a twin room, the space is tight, with the second suitcase a bit of an orphan in the room and typically on the bed when you use it. Other (double) rooms with one bed are about the same size, but there is more open space.

Breakfast is included in the room rate. The spread we found changed little over the five days we stayed. There was no cold cereal, but there was enough variety so that any international guest should find enough to eat. So, there were some traditional Korean offerings, but also and egg-dumpling, a bit of meat, plenty of rice of two types, a soup, and some other things that we did not try. There were rolls, bread to make toast, jam, a sweet juice of some sort and a coffee machine. The coffee was marginal.

The lobby has adequate space and at the edge of the adjacent breakfast room there are computers which can be used free of charge to connect to the internet. There is also free wired internet service in the rooms. We found this in-room internet to be convenient and quite fast. We experienced no problems. There is 110 and 220 volt service available at the little desk in the room, which was a nice surprise.

The folks who run the registration desk speak adequate English to help you with directions and to take care of registration and check-out with no difficulty. They will also call you a cab, which in our case quickly arrived. The transfer to the main bus station for the bus to the Incheon international airport is 5 minutes by cab. The bus to the airport (the only sensible way to get there) runs typically three times an hour. Advance purchase of tickets guarantees you will be on the bus you want. Travel time to the the airport is roughly 3 hours, sometimes a bit less. The airport is a modern marvel and very convenient, with lots of helpful folks who speak a variety of languages at the help desks.

This particular inn is in a good location with small convenience stores close by - which is helpful for incidentals, extra bottled water (the room supplies one bottle per person each day), etc. There are also some interesting and not expensive restaurants nearby, including one that is essentially a beer garden with a variety of OK foods, including pizza. Also nearby is a buffet that looked to have large variety, but we did not have a chance to try it.

All in all, this was a good place to stay for the price, convenient, clean and pleasant.
