We booked this villa based on trip advisor feedback for two couples with a total of 4 children. The villa has that colonial style to it with 4 bedrooms upstairs with a large balcony that overlooks the amazing garden, pool and spice garden area. Downstairs is one large open plan living area which opens up to the front and the rear garden. The villa has a minivan & Tuk Tuk for local trips into Bentota. Minivan does the longer journeys and the pick up and drop off from the airport. We all spent a considerable amount off the day and night in and around the pool which is excellent. Breakfast and afternoon tea is served in a covered area facing the pool as well as lunch and dinner (extra cost). The staff are excellent, friendly and always trying to make your stay enjoyable and memorable right down to the young gardener who just smiled every time we saw him. The chef is amazing and can cook some fantastic meals; Sri lankan curry, garlic prawns and on our last night traditional hopper. roti and rice meals which we all really enjoyed. Lisa the owner was easy to communicate to book the villa and addressing some questions/feedback when we stayed in the villa quickly and positevely. Breakfast was fruit with yogurt and fresh juice and you could also have sausage, bacon, boiled/poached eggs and Sri Lankan Omelette. We also had a fish barbecue on the beach with lobster, prawns etc which was good despite a massive downpour of rain.
Anun arranged for a trip to the Fort at Gaille which was about 90 minutes away and several other trips to the local temple and Gem shop, Again the staff could not do more to look after you. They also arranged for us to go to a local girls orphanage where we donated food, pencils, paper etc which was one of the best things we did on the holiday and we will repeat when back in Bentota.
Another highlight of the villa which we all loved was the resident Dalmatian called spot who is just brilliant and awesome with the kids.
In an nutshell just book it and enjoy.
A safe in at least 2 of the rooms would have been helpful.
Upgrade of the wifi to faster speeds and better coverage in the villa. It was really frustrating how slow it was. ( yes you can say you should switch off on holiday in such a beautiful villa but in the connected world with iPhone and I pads its required).
I saw in a review someone mentioned a Hot Tub. Whilst the pool was brilliant a hot tub would have been the icing on the cake.
Clear printed costings for lunch meals and dinner (espically special meals like on the beach). The same for transport costs for far away trips to the Fort at Gaille. Set printed costs will reduce any confusion and let the people staying be clear on the costs prior to agreeing.
