We’d booked the whole hotel plus the next door villa for a family wedding nearby, and it was just like staying in a friend’s house, only I don’t have any friends with a full set of friendly and attentive staff! Food was excellent, fruit, buffalo curd, toast and eggs for breakfast, lovely lunch snack menu (perfect coconut prawns) and a different 3 course dinner every night. Tea and coffee any time and water in the rooms, with the added bonus of a Nespresso machine in the house. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff, who were friendly and welcoming.
I was worried by a previous review saying there wasn’t AC in all rooms, but there is now, as well as excellent fans which also kept the outdoor dining and relaxing area cool. Mosquito coils everywhere, and I had my room sprayed at night to be on the safe side.
Don’t expect an international style sterile hotel, this is proper Sri Lanka – not all the staff speak English, but they will rush to find those who do, and they were available all day long to look after everything. Any email queries were answered promptly and courteously, nothing too much trouble for anyone. Thanks to Ben, Sena, Roy and the team for a fantastic few days.More
