I picked the Mirador for the rates and reviews here. The Taxi from the airport was 275 NT dollars or 9$. fastest check-in ever. Quick show of my passport and recieved code to my room (no keys) and four breafast coupons even tho I stayed alone for 2 nights. Also loved the bench in the elevator and used it once. My room was small but really comfortable. The bed was amazing and I never used any breakfast coupons opting to stay in bed and watch movies till 11 both mornings. Once again great bed 8 ). The bathroom had a small tub and fit my 90 plus kilo frame in it leaving only my knees uncovered from water. Nice back on the tub as well, cozy for reading. Small ice box 2 drawers and a closet with a few hangers.
Never been to Kaohsiung before and found this location easy to navigate. Short 10 minute walk to the MRT in one direction. The cost to the airport from the MRT was only 30 NT dollars or less then a buck 1$. I took it early not knowing how long it would take and the trip time was only 14 minutes to the airport. Lets you off with easy dirrection to International and Domestic airlines. Bassicaly left or right.

Mirador is a small boutique hotel that has it all. Convenient location, great staffs and wonderful service. The rooms are in European style and are reasonably sized. The bathroom wasn't as stunning but was functional enough. What we liked the most was the bench in the elevator, both were small touches that makes us smile.

Considering what it has to offer, Mirador is an absolute value for money!

After going through the reviews of on trip advisor, we booked two rooms at this hotel, a triple room with one big bed and a single bed and a deluxe double room with one big bed.
The hotel does not offer two single beds in the two persons sharing rooms, so if you are two friends traveling together and wish to sleep on separate beds, this may be a problem.

What we like best about the hotel is the location, just round the corner is the famous shopping street that comes alive at night with clothes stores selling young and trendy wear at very affordable prices and even food stores with most of Taiwan's famous street snacks.

Because we were five adults and were coming to Kaoshiung from Taoyuan Airport immediately, I called the hotel the night before to check if there were large taxis available from Zuoying train station. Dennis Lin, was very helpful.despite the last minute notice, he arranged a 9 seater van to pick us up from Zuoying station to the hotel so we could all travel together with our big luggages.
Otherwise,we would have to take two taxis.

Checking in was prompt. We had to make full payment upon checking in. The hotel were fully booked the night before but upon our request the lady called the housekeeping to clean
one of our rooms first so my elderly mother could rest after the overnight flight.

Rooms designed very nicely nicely with a European flair. As requested, they allocated us rooms next to each other. The triple room had a deep sunken bathtub and that might be a
problem for the elderly and those with limited mobility because you need to climb in and out via a wooden stool to bath. Bathtub is sunken almost a meter deep and the tiles are slippery
when wet.

Breakfast is provided every morning and there is a coffee machine/hot water dispenser in the lobby so you can make coffee or tea in the morning while using the computers the lobby.
There are two computers in the lobby for guests' usage.
If you have your own laptop,Wifi is available in the rooms via a security password given to you upon checkin.

The hotel can send your laundry out to a laundromat nearby. One big bag of clothes costs only NT150 to wash and dry, no ironing.
If you send the clothes in the morning, you should be able to get it back washed, dried and folded by late afternoon.but a word of caution, don't send expensive or good clothes, one of
my white tshirt came back discolored and out of shape.Jeans and clothes made of hardier material are fine.

The rooms are accessible by a 4digit lock code and when we came back one afternoon and couldn't unlock the door despite entering the correct code, the owner of the hotel who came to reset the code for us wasn't too happy.

Turned out the code we keyed in couldn't unlock our room door because a family who've just checked in on our floor had a little boy who's been playing with the codes on our room
door and probably messed up the system.
Don't know why the owner was unhappy with us,perhaps because we roused him from his sleep to reset the code when the reception staff couldn't do so.

Will recommend this hotel only because of it's location and the reception staff, especially Mr Dennis Lin.

Room Tip: The room toilets' doors top panel are made of frosted glass so it's quite see through. Some p...

We chose the Mirador Hotel in Kaohsiung after reading about the great reviews and reasonable prices. Located at approximately 7 minutes walk from the Central Park MRT Station, the hotel is ideally located at the heart of downtown Kaohsiung next to a major shopping district, Xin Jue Jiang.

Check-in service at the cutesy boutique hotel was efficient. Most of the staffs were polite. But 3 nights on, I had a feeling that they were not very welcoming and they tried hard not to maintain eye contacts with the guests whenever somebody walked pass them. This was not the service we expected in Taiwan when even the street hawkers were more welcoming them the staffs at Mirador. We never bothered to ask them any tour information of the city.

Our room at level 5 was clean that came with a huge king size bed, white bed covers, 2 bottles of drinking water and sufficient toiletries. As it faced the back, it was very quiet even though the sound insulation was never fool proof.

However, I noticed that there was no in-room safe provided. My pillow smelt a lot even though it appeared really clean. In addition, there was no way during our showers to avoid splashing the whole bathroom floor with water. I guess this had a lot got to do with the design of the bathtub that tend to retain water at the edges causing water to overflow.

Aside from this, we were pleasantly surprised a sofa in the lift (yes a sofa for resting) and 2 PCs at the lobby for us to surf for information. Breakfast was simple yet filling with eggs, toast, fresh fruits and salads.

Overall, we were impressed by the decor of the hotel. It would be good if the staffs were more welcoming and the minor hiccups in my bedroom did not occur.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the back.

This was the second hotel we stayed during our 2 weeks in Taiwan. We choose this hotel based on reviews as most of our stayed have to be central and close to good transportation (we mostly walked, MRT, trained etc).

We arrived at Kaohsiung by High speed rail from Taipei which only took 90mins. We then took the MRT to the Central Park (which was the closest MRT from this hotel). We thought we would take a taxi to our hotel as we have 2 big luggages, instead we decided to walk as the map show it wasn't too far. Indeed it took us about 10mins (usually 5 mins without 2 big luggages).

The hotel is not hard to spot. It has a very distinctive ‘green’ look. Plus the moment we step in - it feels like you in another world. I especially love the elevator - which has the best design. The door to the room was also nicely decorated. And the room itself was very clean. This is one of the cleanest hotels we stay in Taiwan. The room was reasonably big for 3 adults and have a nice cosy feel.

The staff were very friendly and suggested what we could do or provides the best transportation to get around. The location is wonderful - especially during the night you will find lots of clothes and shoes shops. Apparently this is the best place to buy shoes!! (Which I did brought a few). The shopping malls are close by as well.

Our breakfast is western style which you have on the top floor (there is a mini garden right outside). However, the mini garden weren't well maintained. Mainly due to the fact water was running low in Taiwan (35 degrees and hot heat). But if they do maintain, it will look very nice.

The only problem I have with our breakfast is the fact that every day is the same. The only choice was vegetarian or non-vege. We were there for 3 nights, and we have the same for all 3 morning. It would be great if we could decide what we want - that's my only downside.

Otherwise this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in Taiwan.

This is a 5-storey hotel is situated 8-10mins away from MRT (Central Park Station) but there is a few night markets around the hotel (within 5mins). Room included tasty American breakfast served at L5 roof garden. Free WIFI available in room and there is 2 laptops at reception area for hotel guest to serve. Also, the staffs are very helpful in assisting me in printing some documents.

I stayed in a Deluxe room as it has a larger window compare to the superior room (which is dimmer). Bedsheets and towels are clean, room and hotel (interior and exterior) looks exactly like the picture available in website. For coffee and tea lovers, sachets of coffee and flavored tea are available at L1 and L5. The -ve point is you got to make the tea/coffee in your room as hot water is not served at these 2 levels.

By the way, the glass panel of the bathroom door is using frosty glass, which is about 60-70% visible. This means people outside the bathroom is able to tell what you are doing inside (at the basin area only). hahhaaa
