The staff is friendly but does not speak English well. The breakfast is disappointing though.
There was fungus in the shower soap (???), the room was also not cleaned well. The curtains do not block any light and there were 5 or six dogs barking and howling all night long as if they were going to the slaughterhouse at sunrise. It may not surprise you that we did not sleep so well.

Dear ChrisMaes,

I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us on Tripadvisor. It is with such feedback that we can continously improve our current offerings for our current and future guests.

I would like to thank you for bringing up these points. However i will have to disagree with the statement regarding the soap dispenser. After seeing your first review on Booking.com i already blocked the room in order to inspect myself. Your comments regarding fungus in our soap dispenser is misleading. Our conditioner is star anise perfumed and yellow in colour. What you perceived to be fungus was actually in deed only dry star anise. i can guarantee you that it is not fungus since i use the same dispenser in my own home and this is the first comment we have as such in 4 years of operation.

i respect your comments regarding our breakfast offering however do strongly believe that for 900thb (25euro) our breakfast offering is a great bargain compared to hotels of a similar category in Northern Thailand. Each room has two layers of curtains, when i entered your room i noticed that only one layer was being used. I do apologise, our staff will take more care whilst making up the room.

I have followed up with your comments regarding the barking of the staff and we have made an official complaint to the town hall regarding to the noise caused by the stray dogs that specific evening. If this was brought to my attention during your stay we could have compensated you accordingly for the shortfalls.

I thank you again for your constructive feedback shared on booking.com and tripadvisor. We do hope that you enjoy the rest of your trip in Thailand.

Safe Travels

Our experience at Chayadol Resort was a very positive one. I'd heard Chiang rai was a very ordinary town (so true) but a good jumping off place to visit the National Parks. I'm really glad we decided to stay at Chayadol Resort which is on the edge of town. Very clean, very comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful. Som spoke excellent English and helped us with our planning. She rang drivers and bargained for us, she did well. We had one driver who tried to rip us off. He quoted 600bt. and at the end tried to charge us 1300 bt. I went to ask Som's assistance and she stood her ground and argued our case. We paid 6 hundred. No way was she going to let one of her guests be ripped off by a driver. Although it was out of town they offer free transport into town at 7.00pm so you can go and eat and go to the night market. It cost about 55bt to terrine by meter taxi. If we ever returned to Chiang rai we would stay there again.

I live in Chiang Rai and have over the last year had many friends stay here. Its a few blocks off downtown, but they have shuttles and the beds are GREAT! Trust me, if you want a good night's sleep here in Thailand... move "BED" up on your list.

Room Tip: Have good beds

We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The balcony is big with a nice view. They booked trips for us and helped rent a roller. The breakfast was good but not that varied, probably because it's a small hotel. The water in the pool was cold, maybe because we came in winter. Very happy that I stayed at this hotel .

We spent only one night there. The rooms are super nice, clean and modern. The whole hotel is very nicely made. Super friendly and helpful staff. It is located a bit far from the center but if you have a bike it's no problem. There is a pool at the hotel that we didn't have the chance to try though but it looked clean. We rented bikes from a shop nearby and we toured around the city. Chiang Mai is a really beautiful city and very easy to explore.
