The previous preview was in 2011 and I think I need to update the information regarding the hotel as of today. We were there last weekend and here is what we found.
The hotel has gone under a sea change renovation and what greets you today is 106 rooms, twin, double and singles - all with sea view. If you prefer an upmarket option, there are 10 suites - two on every floor.
The room is very clean and decor is surprisingly pleasant with all hotel amenities you would expect from more expensive accommodation on other beaches. Bathrooms are new. Shower pressure is strong and towels are plentiful. Air conditioning system works well but we prefer the sea breeze coming in through open windows.
What is a very plus point for this hotel is the ground and the landscaped gardens full of flowering flowers even if the dry season has already set in with a vengeance. The swimming pool is well kept and big enough for a few laps if you prefer it to the sea which is a few steps away.
The hotel restaurants surprised us as the food is above average and to our opinion is cheaper than what you have to pay at the restaurants on Takiab beach north of Suanson beach. We have been dining at most of them and agreed that the hotel restaurant is much better.
The sea off this beach is cleanest as there are no beach chairs, umbrellas, vendors ,etc to mess up the beach. This is an army area so none of the annoying sore sights typical of Thai beaches will mar your view.
Then again, if you prefer Pattaya, Phuket or even Hua Hin main beaches, this beach and this hotel is not for you. But if you need quiet time away from the crowd and enjoy being next to the sea, you may find this place a pleasant surprise. I just hope that not too many people have found out about this gem too soon.
The fun way to get to this hotel is by train. Train no.251 and 255 from Bangkok stop at Suanson. It's just a short walk from there to the hotel proper. They are not fast trains so you should take your time enjoying the scenery. Bring a book or a picnic basket. You would love it!
There are also bangalos, camping area and the new hotel on the same stretch of beach, all under army jurisdiction but the public is more than welcome.
The staff may not be proficient in English. Just be patient and all will be sorted in no time.

Room Tip: All rooms are sea facing so any room would do. Don't worry if you room is on the wing above the swimming pool. The pool is open between 0900 am to 7 pm so no noise would disturb your sleep.

Suason Pradipat is actually an army resort. Although it is opened to public, it is generally the locals and not foreigners that choose to stay in this place.

I will review the overall of the hotel, with the pros and cons of staying in this place:

- Everything is green, from the walls to the bed to the curtains to the towels (makes you feel like you have been transported to emerald city
- Have two single beds with one pillow each
- Have a small tv, fridge and balcony to dry your clothes

- Two bottles of water will be provided everyday

- Bathroom attached, standard size
- Have shower and bathtub
- Two bath towel and two face towels provided everyday
- Shampoo, soap and hand towels provided

Amenities and Services Available:
- Swimming pool
- Conference room
- Karoke room
- Restaurant
- Laundry

- Next to the beach
- 15 mins by car/tuk-tuk to Hua Hin Market Village Mall

- Located next to the beach
- Laundry prices are reasonable
- Rooms are spacious

- The staff don't really speak much English
- No internet access except in the lobby
- The restaurant food is pretty sucky and expensive (walk 500m north you'll find a better restaurant)
- The rooms are a bit dark and dingy due to colors coordination
- Not well-kept and maintained (you can see stains on the headboard of the bed)
- Has mosquitoes and ants
- Not easily accessible to public transport (except for Hua Hin train)

Room Tip: Bring Your Own Universal Charger
