This hotel is beautifully located right in the middle of the forest. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had a spacious room but the bathroom didn’t look very clean, especially the bath looked dirty. So, we had to use the shower which was located outside. The breakfast buffet was great, there is a lot to choose from! Also, the swimming pool is beautiful. We only stayed one night during our trip, which was ideal because the city center is not nearby.

I live in Thailand, I am used to the wide range of facilities. But at $60 a night, I do expect certain things like a working air conditioner, hot water, a clean room, and a decent breakfast. Unfortunately none of those came through. The grounds are pretty, the pool was big, but that's where anything noteworthy stopped. The room was old, with painted black floors and the paint came off on our feet. The decor reminded me of outdated 80s design. All of that could have been overlooked, if the hot water and air had worked. We hung out in the room for the first three hours sweating waiting for the air to be fixed. Management should've just given us a different room. When we checked out the manager said we could get a discount on our NEXT visit....but we are not returning. The breakfast was standard, cereal, fruit, salad, hot dogs and ham in hot water, eggs (not fresh), thin sandwich bread. They did have heated milk for the coffee and brewed coffee which was nice. I don't like to be scathing, but I do appreciate an honest review, and that was our experience.

Dear Timothy V,

Thank you for your recent stay here at our resort and your feedback.

We are sorry to know that your stay with us was not as enjoyable as you expected but we are surprised to read your lines after having spoken directly with our General Manager and the story sounded different.

You booked two rooms with us for you and faced issues with one room but the other room was fine.

The night when you checked in the air condition was not working properly so we send our engineer to your room and after that you confirmed everything was fine with the air condition.
The problem with the hot water it happened in the morning and after meeting our General Manager during breakfast you brought up this point and we immediately checked and asked if you need another room but you said, no, it is ok as you used the other room.
At the breakfast egg station the staff is happy to prepare your tailor made eggs for you if asked.

Once again we are really sorry that your stay with us was not as expected but as you mentioned that you are writing an honest review we thought we have to add more to the real story.

We appreciate every guests feedback and we will take your points up with our team to see where and how we can improve.

Kind regards,

YOURS MIDA Resort Kanchanaburi

Very interesting in fact. If you plan to go to the Erawan waterfall, it's on the way and tuck on the river next to a semi-abandoned luxury housing estate from the crazy building 90s… And if you want the ultimate back to nature to stay, they have a small camping site with air-conditioned tents… just by the stream! this is really gorgeous and, in the morning you can walk up to have your breakfast in the restaurant! And you can also take a dip in the river if the large swimming pool not your thing!. Bring along a bicycle, the vast and spooky estate next to it have space for you get sweaty for an hour riding around. It's a good deal in the rainy season!

Room tip: River side or best a tent along the river!

At the time of check-in, we reserved a superior room which was very basic and very old and not worth what we paid for so we had to upgrade the room eventually.

After changing to a much better and modern room these what we did not like:

1. the location of the hotel is sooooo remote that you will need to drive 10 KM to the nearest shop for any basic needs.

2. The hotel is 25 KM from Erawan park with no public transportations close to it.

3. The breakfast is a buffet but not many choices (counted 3 main cuisines and 2 rice dishes and the regular breakfast set).

4. the river (which was the main reason to go to this hotel) had no water or low-water
;evel which did not allow us to use any water activity and the hotel did not allow/open the lights at night beside the river like in the pictures.

What we liked:
1. The staff mostly are helpful and nice (except one person who handled our breakfast was so rude).
2. there are two pools at the hotel.
3. the pool is open until 9 Pm, and it is a salted system pool with lo chlorine.

The price:
from my view, not worth 100$ at all for a deluxe room especially when you are thinking romance and get prevented from having it.

Recommendation:

If you think of going, take a deluxe or grand deluxe room in M3 or M4 buildings as these are the closest to the pool and river and the restaurant.

Room tip: take a deluxe or grand deluxe room in M3 or M4 buildings as these are the closest to the pool and river and the restaurant.

Dear Remo E,

Thank you for your recent stay here at our resort.

We are sorry to read that your stay with us was not as enjoyable as expected. Your comments have been taken up with the respective departments to have a look into it. However some points we would like to clarify.
The hotel is located outside of Kanchanaburi, between the city and the Erawan Waterfalls. Enclosed by pure nature and next to River Kwai "Yai" we are able to offer pure relaxation in a romantic atmosphere. On request we are able to provide transportation through all interesting spots in Kanchanaburi or in case our guests would like to be more independent there is the hourly public bus which brings its passengers to the city or the Erawan Waterfalls.
The water level of the river is controlled by the government on which we unfortunately don't have any influence however with a high water level we are able to provide rafting or floating in the river.

We hope that after experiencing the benefits of our resort we will be able to welcome you back again.

Kind regards,

YOURS Mida Resort Kanchanaburi

Wow! This place is more than we could have ever expected! Stunning setting by the River Kwai with back drop of jungle and mountains. Beautifully well kept hotel, excellent service and food. The General Manager really made an effort and was visible to all his guests. Every day he came to chat to us and check everything was OK. Very nice touch. There was also lots to do and see locally e.g Erawan National Park.
We should also say thank you to Uncle Stephen and Aunty Pranom for booking it for us! By far our best wedding present!
